The takeout baked desserts and patisserie are outstanding. My favorite was the pear galette, a rustic French-style tart with artfully folded flaky, buttery crust, and deep fruit flavor. Less successful was the ganache pecan pie, which was beautiful (as they all were) but the flavor combination of rich on rich didn’t work in my personal opinion. Also really liked the lemon merigue tart. The croissants are very, very good, not absolute top tier but all the flavors are there.

The best break in Cleveland and amazing sandwiches. Always great service. Just returned from Paris and walking over this morning to get my local baguette fix.

On The Rise Bakery is a must-visit for pastry lovers in Cleveland. Their croissants are heavenly – buttery, flaky, and with the perfect balance of sweetness. I highly recommend the raspberry croissant, but the almond is also delicious. They also offer coffee and tea to pair with their baked goods, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Haven’t tried the sandwiches yet, but everything else looks amazing!

Have had terrible customer service from the lady who normally works here on multiple occasions. She is always so inconvenienced to heat up their breakfast sandwiches, which they are supposed to do! Then I think she heated it to Luke warm just to spite me.
Paying $12 to get a tiny cold sandwich and an eye roll. I was the only customer smh. Wont be coming back.

I just stumbled across my original review of this place shortly after it opened which was rather negative. I’m updating it because, two years later, I thoroughly enjoy it! I go here every Friday morning and have a delicious breakfast sandwich and try to pass up all of the delicious bakeries. The ladies who work the counter are absolutely delightful! The coffee still isn’t spectacular, but the line is way, way shorter than the other coffee place at Van Aiken. Come buy yummy treats from cheery people!

Is there better service combined with better pastries in the Cleveland Region? Anywhere? Well…if you are looking to find out, definitely head to On the Rise @ Van Aken Market Hall. Because, this is my “happy place” and I hope it is yours also.
Teya and Becca are just 2 of the many great people working here. Teya brings personality and connects with customers, often telling a story or getting to know how things are going for people coming in.
The pastries and bread are outstanding. A wide variety of breakfast pastries and scones. The weekend “Special Scones” are rotated by season, and I haven’t had a better scone. Great bread and sandwiches. Definitely a variety of people working here and food that are worth your visit.

Wow. Is it weird to say everything edible here is amazing? The cashier working around 830am EST on Saturday 07JUL2023 was just delightful.
The baked goods are sublime. If you visit the Van Aiken location, be sure to pair something with an espresso beverage from Rising Star Roasters.
Sandwiches not available until 9am EST, so be warned IF you’re an early bird. Otherwise, nothing but good things to say about this gem of a cafe/bakery hidden in Shaker Height, Ohio.

This place has a great pastry and bread. And It used to be a go to place for me. Until today. The cashier has an attitude because I was not forming a line like she wanted me to be. She took an order from other person even though she came later than me. I complained. Then the attitude. I gasped because of her rudeness. I still have a tip 20% for making the sandwich. I won’t go back as long as she is doing the service. What a awful experience.
**update**
Went back again to see if I can have better experience. Wrong! I got a wrong order and they didn care to check the price difference. I didn’t want to even complain them. I am going back to the fairmount store for now.

one of the best sandwich locations around. their banh mi and prosciutto sandwiches are just killer. i also really enjoy their bread and pastries, and this location is quite convenient for me. in particular, the sticky walnut buns and the jennifer cookie are delish—but it’s quite hard to go wrong!
