A small group of us traveled from Illinois to visit a friend in Sargent for the week. Had lunch at On The Corner. Best burgers ever! We split, half of us having the tots and half having fries as a side. All done perfectly! Love this little place and I am happy to support a local Sargent business!

This is always my favorite place my family goes to eat breakfast when we stay in Sargent. They have great menu items and a buffet. Friendly personal service and extra large cups of hot strong coffee.

Breakfast was burnt but not too bad, paying was a nightmare and the biggest reason for this poor review. The door says to pay using cash or card, if with card there’s a $2 charge, which is fine. We eat and go to checkout and the only way to pay is via cash or online method, cash app or Venmo. The handwriting is so bad you can’t read the names of the accounts and they got annoyed when we couldn’t find it. Several attempts later and it finally went through, they charge tax but use personals payment accounts instead of a business account which is fishy.

Quiet place for the locals, people are as nice to you as you are to them. Food is good, and prices are too. Slow down or you will drive right the place.

First off, I had no idea that there were as many restaurants in Sargent as there are. It kinda makes Matagorda look puny.
On the Corner, other than not being very noticeable from the highway as you drive by, once you know it’s there you will not forget it. I had the Jalapeno Cream Cheese Burger and it was the best burger I have gotten at a restaurant in years. And that is no exaggeration.
Our waitress was more than courteous and made sure to tend to all of our needs. Even though it was noon, and they were busy, she made a point to stop and ask if we needed anything every time she walked by.
While I was skimming the menu, I flipped it over and saw what looked like a great breakfast menu. If it wasn’t such a far drive from Bay City to Sergeant I would probably have breakfast there on the weekend, just to try it because I miss having places that you can sit down and have a good old-fashioned American breakfast. An omelet or eggs however you want them, or a short stack or a tall stack.
Either way I’ll definitely be returning….

We stopped here in the way to Sargent. Called ahead and placed an order to go. Kiddo wine up when we got there so went ahead and ate.
Had burgers for the adults and corn dogs for the kids. Prices were good and good was tasty (although burgers came with tater tots and I would have preferred fries, but maybe we didn’t read the menu right).
The hostess/waitress/cashier was so sweet. She gave my kids some quarters for the PAC man machine.
Place is small, window units and whatnot, but a place you’ll like if you’re there.
Only reason for not doing 5 stars is that only accept cash and check. I know it’s a small place, but being out there and not really planning for it, through us off. Has station nearby had an ATM though.

Great food made from scratch. Had the steak fingers with country gravy, tater tots with cheese, and unsweet iced tea. Small quaint local restaurant with a small bar. The walls are decorated with funny tin signs and the servers are very cheerful and attentive. Not sure if the credit card machine wasn’t working or if the establishment didn’t have one but a sign on the door stated “Venmo, Cash App, or Cash only”.
