We had a party of 6 adults and 3 kids, 1 needing a high chair. It was lunchtime on a Saturday, although we had a little bit of a wait, we were seated pretty fast after showing up without any notice to the staff. (All of us are from out of town and visiting family in Weatherford.) It wouldn’t have taken so long if we didn’t have to wait on another table to leave so they could push 2 tables together for us. The waiter made the wait worth our while once we were seated. He definitely earned his tip. The food came out fast and everything was as ordered and delicious. The kids were happy once their bellies were full and we had a good time catching up with each other while eating good food.

We’ve lived here in Weatherford and had lunch/dinner at this On the Border on several occasions but today was exceptional! The hostess was quick to seat us and Cayden (our server took our drink/appetizer order within a minute of being seated. He was very polite and presented himself very professionally. The new menu is sleek and has quite a few less options as before they were bought out, but frankly having these signature options makes it easier to order. Food is excellent and service tonight was fantastic!

We had an AMAZING experience at On The Border today. Our server Amanda was absolutely incredible. Our drinks and chips were never empty and she was so sweet, attentive, and on top of everything the entire time.
Kalea was also wonderful. She wasn’t our server but still checked on us, chatted with us for a moment, and made us feel so welcome while never missing a beat with her own tables. You could tell she truly cared about doing her job well.
What really stood out was the whole team. I have never seen so many employees walk with such purpose. Every single person was working hard and still smiling while doing it. The energy, teamwork, and positivity were unmatched.
Hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while!! We will absolutely be back

I haven’t eaten at an On The Border in over 8 years. Lexi my server was Great! The atmosphere was good. However the food was so-so. Somewhat on the bland side. I had chips and salsa with guacamole. I also ordered the Grand Papi for my main course. The best part of my meal was the Mango frozen margarita. I would return for the good service and maybe try another dish.

I haven’t been to OTB and at least three years and before that it was probably five and I swear I would never go back. I heard OTB was recently purchased, and they are revamping their menu and making changes, so I thought I would try it out. I am so happy I did. The food was hot. It was fresh. It tasted so good, and their margaritas are fantastic.

Don’t let the low reviews fool you. This place was great. Zoee was super nice and knowledgeable. She underrepresented the amount of food was on the dishes we got, which is a great thing to do. We thought we were getting far less than we ordered. The manager stopped by to check and say hi. Very well priced.

Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5)
(5 stars for service, 0 stars for the kitchen)
I am writing this with a heavy heart as a 20-year loyal patron of On The Border. Our latest visit was a jarring study in contrasts: world-class service overshadowed by a complete collapse in food quality.
The Service (The 5-Star Experience)
Our server, Zoee, was absolutely AMAZING. She was polite, attentive, and incredibly prompt. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to guest satisfaction, and she is truly the only reason this review isn’t a one-star.
The Food (The Heartbreak)
Since the Pappasitos takeover, the decline of this brand has been “deplorable.” We’ve watched our local spots close, and now the food at the remaining locations has become substandard and overpriced.
The Salsa: Calling this “salsa” is an insult to Texas. It is bland and lifeless; honestly, Taco Casa has better salsa with more heat.
The Menu: The “fajita” chicken salad was nothing more than a run-of-the-mill cafeteria grilled chicken salad. No grilled onions, no fajita seasoning, and zero soul.
The Flavor: This is Texas—we expect Southwest spice, not the bland, uninspired profiles you find in the North.
The Verdict
The new menu is missing the Texas classics that made us fans for two decades, and the prices have been inflated while the quality has plummeted. It is painful to walk away from a 20-year tradition, but after this experience, this was likely our final visit to an On The Border. The food is simply not worth the price anymore.

The food was hot, fresh and tasted so good. Love the new menu and so glad Pappasitos took over. Our server was attentive and friendly. The margaritas were delicious and filled to the top. Will definitely be back!

So, we went to on the border which we drove an hour for. We were seated immediately as they weren’t very busy. Upon sitting down and looking at menu, realized our favorite dishes had been changed. Taco meat had been changed. My husband doesn’t eat onions, no meat without onions. While looking at menu I was like well we can surely find something we could eat. About that time they delivered chips and salsa. Hot gross green salsa. Paper-thin chips. Prices increased. So, I guess buy out is not my cup of tea. We wont be back and we have eaten at multiple on the borders all over the state of Texas for many many years. Extremely sad and disappointed that the quality has decreased. We left and told girl at door that the changes didn’t work out for us. I hated to leave, but salsa is half the enjoyment and it was disgusting… hot with a bizarre flavor. They said its got less ingredients than old salsa. Old salsa was very good. I’ve had very fresh salsa and make it myself with very few ingredients but that definitely missed the mark. Staff was very friendly.

Went by for happy hour and everything was wonderful. With the pappasito’s partnership, the chicken fajitas as excellent. We also got the guacamole and queso dip, the were huge and again very good. The guacamole was real avocado….not like some other restaurants where it’s mainly pico. We really loved the new chips and salsa. HH large margaritas were $5….a win all the way.
Alle (Alexandra) was our server and she was great….friendly and efficient. She also explained how all the chicken and beef is fresh and marinated in house; she also said that the sauces got major upgrades. She was right all the way. They were very busy for HH, and she really hustled….service was phenomenal.
