First visit here mid November 2025. Awesome food! Everything was delicious. My husband and I stopped in before boarding my flt to worx to DFW. After asking our waiter a couple of his recommendations he would personally back, I came to the decision of ordering the honey chipotle shrimp taco plate w/ a side of sourcream and guacamole. And I am so glad I did. Hubby had the birria taco plate. Both dishes were so tasty and the portions and quality of the all food ordered and their ingredients were a pleasant surprise as they were fair and not overpriced as most things are now days post covid. Highly recommend stopping by for a tasty Mexican inspired meal. Please enjoy my pictures and videos I captured during my dining experience.

Sorry for the half-eaten food pics, we were starving!
Our hostess and server (dual roles this evening) was Talia. She was amazing! Fast, personable, and on top of everything! The chips and salsa were good, but the queso was perfection tonight! It really hit the spot and was fresh. As for our entrees, both were made to order. Again, freshly made and piping hot. She got the chicken bowl. Plenty of good stuff in the bowl and great flavor. My birria tacos were good, but one had half the meat of the other. The taste didn’t suit me nor did the dipping sauce. I’m not saying either was poorly made or had bad ingredients; the flavor just didn’t suit me (good enough I still ate both tacos). The portions were generous and so were the prices.
The second party isn’t a huge margarita fan, but she decided to try something new and got the flight of margaritas. She actually enjoy the orange and strawberry, but not so much on the third (she could not recall what the third flavor was supposed to be).
The place could use some TLC though. A urinal looked like it was about to fall off the wall…again. A few baseboards appeared to be falling apart and almost rotted. The overall appearance of the facilities wasn’t dreadful though. I’d still recommend a visit if Mexican food is what your craving.

My favorite Mexican food … best queso ever… and chips- hands down!! I wish there was still one in Norman, but it burned down back in 2014 unfortunately. I absolutely love their chimichangas!! So delicious!!

First of all, we love On the Border! It is one of our families favorite Mexican food places, and we have been at this particular location many times before and have always enjoyed the food and our experience.
However, yesterday, February 26 we arrived at the restaurant at 8:33. The restaurant closes at 9 PM so I knew it was getting close, but we were greeted promptly and seated without any indication that we could not order.
We were given menus and told that our server would be with us shortly. There were at least six other tables with people eating at the same time.
My wife and I waited. And waited. And waited.
No one came by the table. We weren’t asked what we wanted to drink. No one brought chips and salsa. Nothing.
After 15 minutes, we asked the person who seated us if someone was going to come by and he said he would check.
We watched two servers in our area helping the other tables, and they walked by our table several times without even looking at us. We waited 5 more minutes & And no one ever came to our table so we left.
I’m certainly sensitive to workers and getting towards the end of the day. And if they had just come by and said our kitchen is closed or we’re not sure if we are going to be able to serve you. No problem…But no one came by or said a word to us.
I will still eat at on the border because it is some of my favorite Mexican food, but I might think twice before going to this specific restaurant.

Hair in my food. I pulled it out from under the food, so it could not have been my own which had fallen on top.
I politely informed them and said I’ll be leaving, since why would I risk them remaking it when they have already broken my trust. They graciously removed it from my bill.
Then I was sitting there with 2 of 3 cups of my margaritas flight untouched.
I had been traveling solo, starved and came for a meal. I did not intend to be disappointed, still hungry and then continue to drink a flight of margaritas by myself, staring at the empty side of a booth, while skipping dinner.
I had to wait for a manager and politely request them to adjust the drink, wait more, pay for $8 of cheese dip and go find a new place. It took a long time and wasn’t fun, and I didn’t appreciate needing to advocate for myself to get them to adjust the drink that was supposed to go with a meal, that I didn’t have 2/3 of.

The chips and salsa were good and spicy. We had the shrimp appetizer, and it was full of flavor. I ordered the pick two and had the beef enchilada and stuffed pepper. The enchilada was good. The pepper it wasn’t fully cooked it was a bit hard to cut.

The fajitas were super small for the price. I had to send my margherita back to get it blended, so much ice u couldn’t get it through the straw. Took 15 minutes after seating to get waited on. The place wasn’t even busy at all.
