This restaurant was amazing, the fajitas were heavenly. You get a bang for your buck here, as the portion sizes are generous. This is definitely worth it! The best Mexican restaurant in Fayetteville, hands down. And the customer service was amazing.

I just moved up here with my husband and this was the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was absolutely amazing and flavorful compared to all the places I’ve been to in South Carolina Jeanette was our server and she was so personable and just a great server in general. Highly recommend this place !

New to the area and sampling local establishments. We walked over to the restaurant from Barnes & Noble across the way.

First time there for either of us. As luck would have it we got a first-day employee, Emma, being trained by a helpful and welcoming woman, Vivia (sp?), who greeted us in lieu of a hostess and helped us throughout our service.

They were both very attentive and it was clear that this was a training scenario, complete with good examples throughout. I’m sure we’ll be back and I’m sure Emma will be a pro by then and Vivia the same welcoming presence as she was last night.

Thanks to the both of them for a pleasant evening.

First time having dinner here at the Border. We ordered mango nada, chimichanga and carne escada steak skillet. The mango drink look and taste great. My chimichanga is delicious . The beef on the skillet has great flavor. The waitress was very nice but the order was not correct. She forgot the soup and the refill on my ice tea was pretty slow. Overall experience was very good. If you are in the mood for dip and chip and Mexican food, definitely recommended. Our total bills including tip was around $65.

Good Food & One Rockstar Employee vs. Total Management Failure.
I really want this place to succeed because the food was actually good and the restaurant has so much potential, but the service with one major exception was a disaster.
The Highlight: A One-Woman Show
The lady in the attached photo is the only reason this review isn’t a 1-star. Even though the restaurant was empty, the rest of the staff seemed checked out. This woman was doing it all.
She took over tables that weren’t even hers to ensure guests were cared for.
She maintained a vibrant, positive attitude despite the chaos.
She stepped up to do the manager’s job checking on tables and apologizing for the long waits and mistakes.
The Issues: Absent Management & Unprepared Staff
Unfortunately, the leadership was nowhere to be found.
The Manager: Was “hiding” by the bar and seemed completely unable to fix incorrect orders or remove items from the bill that never even arrived.
The Bar: It was disappointing to be told the bartender “wasn’t a bartender yet” and couldn’t mix a basic margarita.
The Atmosphere: Even with an empty house, the lack of coordination made the experience frustrating.
Final Verdict
To management : You have a goldmine of an employee in this lady. She is single-handedly keeping the doors open and the customers happy. If you want this restaurant to thrive, she should be in charge. The rest of the team and management need a serious overhaul.

We were really sad when the location closest to us shut down, so we decided to make the drive—about an hour—to the Fayetteville location, and it was totally worth it! We went on Mother’s Day, and I wish I could remember our server’s name because he was absolutely amazing. He didn’t even write anything down and still got our entire order right, which was super impressive.

The chips were fresh and delicious, the food came out hot and flavorful, and the atmosphere was great—relaxed and welcoming. We had such a good experience and will definitely be back. Totally worth the drive!

Ended up at On the Border for the first time while I was in Fayetteville a couple of weeks ago, around 5 on a Monday… It was myself with my two kids, ages 6 and 1.5. The total experience was about as good as you could expect. Our server Manuel was very sweet and attentive and went out of his way a few times to make sure we were never disappointed and were always attended to.
