I had dinner at George Restaurant while visiting Wales, and it honestly turned out to be one of those unexpected gems you’re so glad you stumbled upon. The moment I stepped inside, I loved the cosy atmosphere—warm lighting, wooden beams, and a relaxed buzz that made it feel welcoming without being noisy. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel like regulars, even though it was our first time there.

The food was simply outstanding. I ordered the slow-cooked lamb shoulder, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender with just the right balance of flavours. You could really taste the quality of the local ingredients. My friend had the pan-seared sea bass, which came with a lovely citrus sauce—light, fresh, and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best I’ve ever had—warm, rich, and absolutely comforting.

We stopped here today as the sign said homemade welsh lamb cawl. Yum. Unfortunately it was more of a veg cawl i had one tiny piece of lamb. The cook needs to taste his food as it was so salty. When the waitress came to clear the table she asked if all was ok. I told her nicely what the problem was and didnt seem to like it. My husband went to the bar to pay. She didnt say anything just charged us for 1 portion of cawl and drinks, no sorry or anything. Hate having to moan but i thought id be honest.

We had pre-booked and reserved our sunday roast lunch well in advance. They took allergies well into consideration. Quick service, friendly staff and the restaurant wasn’t crowded when we got there. The food was absolutely delicious. We chose the beef option, which too had to be booked almost a week in advance. The beef was tender yet juicy, crispy yorkshire pudding, well seasoned veggies, and a super flavourful gravy. The portions were quite generous too! 10/10, highly recommended.

Solid four out of five stars. Service was pretty slow – friendly but seemed a bit rushed. I had the mackerel pate for starters, it was good but was looking for a bit more flavour and texture. The skate was excellent and didn’t need any extra sauce in my opinion. Wine was good value and the Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon blanc were both delicious. The lamb was pretty good and came on a bed of veggies, which is always welcome.

We pre-booked but it wasn’t busy when we arrived. Nicely decorated, candles on all tables and nice hanging lights. Food was good, took a little while to come out but we were happy to wait as it was all freshly prepared and hot when delivered to our table. One of our party had a soya allergy and staff took this really seriously, checking with us several times to make sure we didn’t receive anything with soya in. Beef burger was great, really big portions and the sweet potato coconut curry was really nice. We also tried the tempura vegetables and garlic mushrooms starters. Deserts looked lovely but too full so will have to try these next time instead of a starter!

We booked dinner for Sunday here. When we arrived they informed that lobster wasn’t available. My friend really wanted lobster so we walked a few other places trying to find and we couldn’t. The frustration of the lobster started the dinner. But the food was so amazing that it was ignored by the end of the dinner. The owner (I believe he was) explained to us that as the restaurant closes on Monday and Tuesday and he wants to serve all fresh he always guarantee the day service. But he got surprised on how many lobsters were sold during Saturday. He has a friend that does the fishing and he can have always fresh but didn’t have for Sunday. The menu had a good variety of sea food. And 5 different fishes for main course. For starters we went with seafood cocktail that was in fact a mixed platter of shellfish. Lagostins and chicken. They sold the last mussels portion the prior table ordering. Main course 2 plaice fish and one megrim. They were served with a side we all went with the potatoes in garlic sauce. OMG what a sauce, a butter cream that was just divine.
The plaice were served full fish. So a bit tasteless as the fish it is not full of flavour. And there were too many bones. The megrim on the other hand was served in fillets that were grilled and then pan fried. Amazing taste. A beautiful meal. Beautiful food, and beautiful presentation

I can not recommend this place enough. It was honestly the best tasting restaurant I’ve ever been to. Me and my partner don’t eat out often as we feel let down my most places, but I would drive the 2hour journey just to eat here again. The flavours were outstanding and fhe portion sizes were great and did not leave you feeling hungry. Me, my partner and 2 children all had a different meal and each one was phenomenal. Thank you On George for your brilliant service and excellent food. We will be back

Simple food well cooked with generous portions. The mussels were plump with a beautiful creamy wine sauce. The pâté my partner did could have had more flavour. My lamb rump main was lean and well cooked with a pile of various vegetables, it felt almost healthy until I added the creamy garlicky potatoes from the side dish. My partner also enjoyed her Skate a lot (that one needs a side dish).

One star off since service was a little slow to get going (peak time, staff were working hard) and another (pushy) couple who arrived after us were served first, and received one of our dishes by mistake.

I’d book on weekends. Weekdays you can probably walk in.

Just went in for a drink mid afternoon. The staff were not very friendly and welcoming, the service was slow and our pot of tea was so weak and more hot water that a good brew. Sorry to say but would not recommend on our experience!

We were here 2 weeks ago on a day trip to Tenby, and were looking for a restaurant in the evening. While strolling through the alleyways, we noticed on George’s. We booked for the evening and definitely didn’t regret it. We got fantastic advice on which fish to eat, including a demonstration of the fish in question. We followed the recommendation. Super ambience, great service and a fantastic dinner.
