Service was EXCEPTIONAL! Very detailed and courteous staff. One individual noticed I had a small bag and asked to store it away so I could enjoy my dinner. The concierge helped us slip into our checked winter jackets before we left. Btw the food was on point . We will return. One small drawback is it’s CASH or AMEX only.

Went here for friend’s bday ! The food was super duper good especially the cow meat . The Japanese chef was super nice and I loved the ambiance. Very cute tea cups. The paintings on the wall were hard to read but that is probably the appeal. One of my friends only eats McDonald’s and Chipotle but even they enjoyed it. I dont even like fish but it was good! These fish mustve been grass fed and farm raised. The cod was probably black ops due to the color. We said some silly things but did not get kicked out (nepotism) so they are rather accepting. Very edible food, we ate the leaves even. The only way you’d get kicked out is probably throwing food on the wall but don’t do that! One last word: Omen.

Omen Azen is my favorite Japanese restaurant in New York! The food is fantastic—fresh, seasonal, and absolutely original and authentic. Udons, dashi, sea food pot, crispy tuna salad sooo good! Beyond the incredible cuisine, the staff is friendly, always helpful, and welcoming. Great atmosphere!
Omen Azen has been around for a long time, and hopefully it will be there for much longer. I routinely bring visiting friends here, and without fail, we always leave with big smiles on our faces—a consistently high-caliber experience. Pro tip: Try the sake from the wooden box!
Heads up: They only accept Cash or American Express.

the food was fine but the service was actually close to the worst thing i’ve had. i think it was just our waitress tbh, everyone else seemed like they were hustling. we had to ask so many times to even get water refills, the food took foreverrrr, and getting the check even took ages and a lot of attempts to get her attention.
apparently it’s cash only which we did not know about. idk if the waiter even knew that bc she literally picked up our check with the card only to come back to tell us no card (other than amex)???
great vibes though

Very relaxed meal, intense and distinct flavors, in a relatively vibrant Japanese restaurant. The staff was very friendly and seemed to really respect the food. They made me feel very welcome. My favorite dishes in the tasting menu were the beef soup and noodles, as well as the misa soup in the appetizer. They were however rather salty and I woke up thirsty. I would love to be back.

We took our daughter and a couple of her friends here during a recent visit to NY, and we all enjoyed a wonderful evening! The service was top-notch ~ our glasses were never empty, and our plates were brought and cleared promptly without us feeling rushed. To begin, we ordered the assorted seasonal appetizer which had something for everyone, even the vegans among us – very tasty! Our entrees included the black codfish, the skirt steak (both cooked and seasoned perfectly), the omen noodles (vegan) and the Kobe beef Shabu-Shabu hot pot, which was an experience in itself! Exceptional customer service and exquisite Japanese cuisine. A great dining experience!

Food and atmosphere are first rate. The only demerit is the server continually put his thumb hooked inside the bowls when bringing these to the table. Bad form; would never occur in Japan

Unwelcoming atmosphere but attentive service. Expected it to be run down after not coming back for a few decades but it was well maintained and clean. Cocktails are a hit or miss. Tuna tartare was of quality but bland. Nice agedashi. Miso udon was nice. Futomaki was surprising small for the price and just ok.
