Let me start by saying this place is great for Customer Service and it’s definitely is a family orientated restaurant. The service is phenomenal, However, my food was mediocre. I asked for my chicken to be cooked lightly so it wouldn’t be dried out. However, the chicken is bland,. I’ve never had a chicken salad where it wasn’t diced. This is the worst chicken salad I’ve ever had the chicken didn’t taste marinated at all. I do see some seasoning on there, but it’s still bland. Food cost too much to get mediocre, When you go out to a restaurant, you supposed to get quality food nowadays .. I chose to drive here because I was expecting for the food to be great, but I was not pleased.. I don’t think that I will be going back here again..

This place is busy! 11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. The parking lot is seriously full (Detroit P.D. in one of them), maybe 6 spaces empty and inside only a couple of small (2 seat) tables/booths plus about 5-6 seats at the counter. I’m calling that a good sign, folks.
Despite all those existing customers, I was greeted before I could get to the “Please Wait to be Seated” sign.
The menu is fairly large, the breakfast offerings taking up one whole side. So many decisions! There is a small kids menu in one corner but it’s mostly smaller portions for the wee ones.
Server took my order almost as fast as I could decide, and smiling every time I saw her. Went with a Gyro Supreme ($8.99) and got it about 3 minutes later, hot and delicious. Props to the cooks, too. A well constructed gyro. Often the meat is strewn right down the middle of the pita which becomes the bottom so you only get meat or veg in your bite. This was well offset so I got meat in nearly every bite. Kudos!

My uncle is a regular here, so he couldn’t wait to take us. They close at 3, and we only had about 40 minutes, but the food arrived promptly, and everything was nice and hot. We ordered the farmer’s omelet, grilled chicken skillet, meat lover’s skillet, bacon waffle, and pancakes. Everything was good, and there was plenty of food, so we all had to get a box and take home leftovers. I’ll definitely be returning when I visit Detroit again.

Renee was great as our server! The food was great. I had the grilled salmon salad and I ate every bite. I was able to get my hot chocolate mixed with coffee with whipped cream on top.

I went there on my lunch break and the lady said pick a seat either the two-seated booth or the counter and I don’t like sitting at the counter. I went to his two-seater booth. The seating was tight. I’m almost at 300 lb guy so I sat over at the other tables that was much more uncomfortable. I had a little extra room but she badgered me about sitting there. Too many damn Coney Islands to go somewhere where I’m not comfortable. Don’t worry about sitting me again

This is the only place I will eat at. Them fish and grits are banging. And that dogged on sausage gravy and biscuits be slapping. Love and blessings omega’s family.

I’ve only been to this diner twice. I’d say it’s a hit or miss. The first time I went, I had catfish with grits and eggs and it was perfect, delicious. The fish was perfectly golden brown. The grits weren’t too runny or too thick. And who can mess up some scrambled eggs? Weeelll, I found out the next time I went because not only did the server bring them out before the rest of the meal (who does that?) but there was egg shells in it. That time I had pancakes. They were good. I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. Both times, the wait staff weren’t very attentive. I had to make an effort to get their attention. I’m still going back though.

When in Detroit you can’t leave without getting a coney. This is my first time trying Omega Coney Island and it won’t be my last time. Now this will be my first choice! Besides the food the other customers where my favorite including the table of retired educators. I heard they go there every week. It was such a friendly atmosphere. You’ll love it!!
