Outdoor seating when warm, no heaters. Front room features nice bar and tables. We like the main dining room, there is also a secondary room.
Decent wine list mostly Italian reds.
Overall, excellent choice for a great dinner.
** Superb food presentation.
** Delicious and perfectly cooked.
** Food was hot and waiter was attentive.
** the Bucatini with crab meat was incredible. The flavors are perfectly balanced and there was ample crab meat.
MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Caucasian. My husband and I are African American. The waiter was curt with us at best. He came and greeted us and and said that the specials were on the menu and walked away. I had to flag him down to ask for a drink. And even then he didn’t come over. He just stuck his head around the corner. I also asked for cheese for our bread. He came over, dumped some cheese and walked away. We didn’t even have time to ask for more. He didn’t ask if we wanted any help with the menu. He took time with the other tables and asked them if they needed anything and were they alright. When he came over to us after a long wait, as we were talking to him, he had the NERVE to lean back to ask the other table if they were good and wanted any cheese and pepper! I was DONE! It was so blatant to the point it was disgusting! I told my husband we were leaving. That was the most blatant display of racism and disrespect I had ever experienced. I would NEVER step foot in that place again.
We went here as a party of four to celebrate a 50th anniversary. We made the reservation well in advance and requested a special table.
We entered the front door and that was the last thing that went well. The staff was disorganized and uncaring. No one seemed to be in charge. We were told to follow someone to our table who then pointed to a table that another customer was moving to. After a lot of commotion, we were left standing in the middle of the restaurant unattended. Despite seeing nice tables empty, we were told those tables were “reserved” … for whom …. more special customers??!!! After making our way back to the hostess stand, they offered to allow us to sit at the bar. How special!!! We finally were seated at a table in the back room that was not at all ideal – right next to the door to the patio, and a very large, very loud group. We couldn’t even hear ourselves talk. It was either sit here or find another restaurant. In retrospect, that is what we should have done.
As for the food, it was only average. The $60 veal chop was so tough my husband couldn’t even cut it. When he asked for a steak knife, they said they didn’t have one. Never asked why or if the chop was ok. I think that says it all.
Maybe we will have to recreate our special evening at a place that cares.
P.S. It is also interesting to note that, although we went to a number of very nice restaurants with wonderful food and service during our visit to HHI, this was the most expensive meal of the week.
