Ombra has a nice atmosphere and the menu looks great, but our experience was just okay. The food was good, though not quite what we expected for the price. We were told the regular pasta is homemade, but the gluten-free option wasn’t — a bit of a letdown. The staff was very friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. Overall, not a bad meal, but not a standout either. We’d consider giving it another try.

Ombra is one of the best Italian restaurants on the island. Always great food and service. Nice ambiance.

Outdoor seating when warm, no heaters. Front room features nice bar and tables. We like the main dining room, there is also a secondary room.

Decent wine list mostly Italian reds.

Overall, excellent choice for a great dinner.

This is my favorite Italian Restaurant in the Low Country and on HHI.

** Superb food presentation.
** Delicious and perfectly cooked.
** Food was hot and waiter was attentive.
** the Bucatini with crab meat was incredible. The flavors are perfectly balanced and there was ample crab meat.

MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My husband and I went there March 1, 2026 for our anniversary. When we were sat, we had a waiter that looked to have 2 other tables. The waiter and the guests were all
Caucasian. My husband and I are African American. The waiter was curt with us at best. He came and greeted us and and said that the specials were on the menu and walked away. I had to flag him down to ask for a drink. And even then he didn’t come over. He just stuck his head around the corner. I also asked for cheese for our bread. He came over, dumped some cheese and walked away. We didn’t even have time to ask for more. He didn’t ask if we wanted any help with the menu. He took time with the other tables and asked them if they needed anything and were they alright. When he came over to us after a long wait, as we were talking to him, he had the NERVE to lean back to ask the other table if they were good and wanted any cheese and pepper! I was DONE! It was so blatant to the point it was disgusting! I told my husband we were leaving. That was the most blatant display of racism and disrespect I had ever experienced. I would NEVER step foot in that place again.

Purchased a gift online gift card for my parents through Ombra’s website. It was not accepted due to them “mever seeing something like this” and it having to be a physical gift card. Then why is such an option offered on the website? Either education/training needs to be improved with staff or

What a great dining experience. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. We were seated right away at a nice cozy table. Our server was attentive, knew the menu we’ll and took great care of us. Our food was fresh, plentiful and tasted great. This is a must stop if your on the island. I can’t wait to come back and eat again. Some of the best Italian I have ever had.

We had a fabulous dinner at Ombra in Wexford Plaza. It began with our stellar server, Lindsay. She was AWESOME! Lindsay was friendly, helpful and just a pleasure! We were a party of 5 and each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. (swordfish special, lemon chicken, Gnocchi, seafood over linguine, chicken Milanese). We’ve been visiting HH for years and just discovered this “ hidden gem”! We will surely return the next time we are in town! Thank you, Chef and Lindsay for a delicious and delightful dinning experience!

Very disappointing. Would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend this restaurant.

We went here as a party of four to celebrate a 50th anniversary. We made the reservation well in advance and requested a special table.

We entered the front door and that was the last thing that went well. The staff was disorganized and uncaring. No one seemed to be in charge. We were told to follow someone to our table who then pointed to a table that another customer was moving to. After a lot of commotion, we were left standing in the middle of the restaurant unattended. Despite seeing nice tables empty, we were told those tables were “reserved” … for whom …. more special customers??!!! After making our way back to the hostess stand, they offered to allow us to sit at the bar. How special!!! We finally were seated at a table in the back room that was not at all ideal – right next to the door to the patio, and a very large, very loud group. We couldn’t even hear ourselves talk. It was either sit here or find another restaurant. In retrospect, that is what we should have done.

As for the food, it was only average. The $60 veal chop was so tough my husband couldn’t even cut it. When he asked for a steak knife, they said they didn’t have one. Never asked why or if the chop was ok. I think that says it all.

Maybe we will have to recreate our special evening at a place that cares.

P.S. It is also interesting to note that, although we went to a number of very nice restaurants with wonderful food and service during our visit to HHI, this was the most expensive meal of the week.
