Had a great time at O’Malley’s Pub in Palmer Lake. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a local pub — relaxed, welcoming, and full of character. It’s the kind of spot where you can kick back with a cold drink and actually enjoy good conversation. One of the coolest parts? You get to grill your own steak on their indoor grill. It seriously feels like a summer backyard BBQ — except you’re inside, no wind, no bugs, and a cold beer in your hand. Being able to cook your steak exactly how you like it makes the whole experience interactive and way more memorable than just ordering off a menu.
The place is also bigger than you’d expect. There’s more room than you think inside, plus a really cool semi wrap-around outdoor patio area that’s perfect when the weather’s nice. It gives you that true Colorado summer feel with fresh air and great views. Friendly staff, solid service, and that perfect small-town charm. Whether you’re coming off the lake or just looking for a fun night out, O’Malley’s delivers.

I’m sad to write this review because I’ve been going to O’Malley’s for 20 years. We have lived in the area and frequented for the wings and fries. Last night we went with a group of friends. It was a big disappointment.

We waited over an hour for our food.

The wings were very small, extremely overcooked, hardly any meat on them, and were drowned in sauce.

The fries came out way overcooked, and I like them crispy. The burgers were good, that was the night’s saving grace.

Some of our friends asked for soda refills midway and never received them. Service was very slow. We also received our appetizer about 30 mins after our meal. If you’re that busy and don’t have the staff needed, consider not opening the upstairs.

Lastly, the tables upstairs were sticky. Our napkins stuck to the table.

Cody gave us 10% off when we showed him the food, but that barely covers tax. Most of the wings did not get eaten, so they should have been comped. We had 8 people there and drank and ate other things too. You still made money off of our table.

These are all things that can be fixed pretty easily. This is a great spot to stop for lunch on a bike ride or post-hike, so please consider changing out tables, training your cooks, and not overseating your staff. You used to have craveable wings and fries. We miss that!

Visiting family in Colorado and they brought us here for a fun, unique dining experience. The building is old and very dated, but it adds to the old Irish Pub feel. It was packed and very loud, but again, that’s part of the experience. We sat by the open grill where you can season and cook your steak, burger, or whatever you order off the menu. You don’t have to cook your own food, but we opted to, as that was the main reason we went there. We’ve never done anything like that before. It was a unique experience. The prices are more than reasonable. I was actually quite surprised. We shared the 16 ounce ribeye and we seasoned and grilled it to our liking. My husband ordered fries and I had a salad from the salad bar. Not an overly stocked salad bar, but everything was fresh and the dressings were yummy! We will definitely go back when we are visiting.

The beer prices were on point and the wings were amazing. Crispy with their own secret sauce. Not too hot and not too mild, right in the middle. They were really good

Walked in as a group of 4 and was left standing in the front entrance for 5 mins before anyone acknowledged us. The place was busy, it happens.

We were told to go upstairs and seat ourselves. We were the only ones up there. 10 mins go by, no waitress. Go downstairs to let someone know. Wait another 10 mins, still no waitress. Go back downstairs and let someone know again that nobody has come by to take our drink order. A waitress finally shows up shortly after to take our order, no menus. Finally put in our orders in.

Drinks show up quickly and then after a while our friend’s grilled chicken arrives, but our wings do not. We give it 5-10 minutes before saying anything to another waitress. She comes back and asks us what we ordered exactly. The wings show up a bit later, it seems like they did not get rang up earlier.

Ready to leave, ask for the check split between two groups. The waitress comes back and charges my card for the whole bill. Not a huge deal, we can figure it out amongst us and head out. She then leaves with my friend’s card before I can stop her. She comes back and says that she refunded me and then tries to run our cards again. Manages to switch our bills around. Whatever, we will figure it out.

Overall, the service was terrible, and this time made it 2/2 for us.

The wings were good and the beer was cold.

The grill your own steak option is awesome if you know how to cook a steak. I got a gorgeous 12 oz New York strip and went medium rare. The grill cooks medium hot and it took maybe 7-8 mins to cook. Awesome food and service.

We live nearby and really wanted to love this place, but our first visit was very disappointing. We ordered several plates at $15 each, but every dish was overly fried to the point of having a burnt flavor.
It was lunch and clearly busy, but the service suffered as a result. With only one server on the floor, we sat with our food for quite a while without anyone checking in. Because we couldn’t get assistance in a timely manner, we eventually just paid and left. At $15 a plate, we felt the value just wasn’t there. We hope they can address the kitchen consistency and staffing, as we’d love a reliable spot in the neighborhood.

What a Wonderful local small business. It’s clean, welcoming, has a very engaging staff, along with an owner that sports the most wonderfully kind personality! The food is the equivalent of home made awesomeness. The patio has stunning views and is welcoming to pets as well. A truly charming small Colorado town feel I highly recommend!
the chicken green chili and sauce on the wings, just WOW!!

O’Malley’s is a favorite place to stop when we are out riding. It’s a quaint local bar with good food and good service. It can get a bit busy on weekends. The outdoor patio is great. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. Their stand-out menu item is their wings! All their other food is good, just not amazing. I’m only leaving a four star so first time patrons realize this is a local pub with a decent menu, but isn’t a place you’ll be wowed by your meal. Except the wings of course!

Update: Coming to O’Malley’s is a 100 mile round trip endeavor but it has always consistently been a 5-star experience for decades for us and we do it at least a few times a year and always for my husband’s birthday. This wasn’t like any of our previous experiences when it came to service at all. It took 4 tries to get our order correct and then we were overcharged for an additional 26oz steak so make sure to check your receipt before paying. The food was still great and we’ll be back hoping this was just a one off experience.

We drive 102 miles round trip to come here and do it a few times a year! Get the wings, get the fried veggies (any of them), get the fried pickles and get the cut to order STEAK and cook it yourself! Fresh never frozen quality Colorado beef. This isn’t a fancy steakhouse this is a local casual steak pub. Open every day of the year! If your local that’s awesome if your not… make the damn trip. They’ve been doing this for almost 40 years and my family has been going for probably 30 of them. Love this place and can’t recommend enough!
