What makes Omakai special is the way they approach the omakase experience. Each course feels intentional, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully balanced. The focus is clearly on the quality of the ingredients and the craftsmanship behind each preparation. You can truly taste the freshness and care that goes into every dish.
Some of my favorite moments have been the unagi with foie gras, which was absolutely exquisite, and the beautifully prepared nigiri featuring premium cuts like toro, uni, and seasonal fish selections.
Another thing I appreciate is how their seasonal menu changes, so every visit feels a little different and always exciting. Even after several visits, I still find myself surprised by the creativity and balance of the dishes.
The atmosphere is warm and intimate, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the service feels genuine from start to finish.
I almost hesitated to share because it has felt like my hidden gem in Doral, but this place truly deserves recognition. If you enjoy thoughtful omakase, quality fish, and a beautifully curated dining experience, Omakai is absolutely worth visiting.
The food was thoughtfully prepared, and the quality and freshness were outstanding. This is truly a memorable and worthwhile experience. We will definitely be coming back.
I hope they continue to uphold these high standards, and that the community embraces this place so it can thrive.
We will be back
We’d heard locals raving about Omakai in Doral, so one afternoon I met friends there for lunch, craving an authentic omakase experience—and that’s exactly what we got. Walking into the heart of Doral, the sleek space felt modern but intimate. The founders—brothers Diego & Pedro Quijada, along with Chef Aaron Pate and friend Nicolas Sayavedra—launched OMAKAI in 2019 to bring high-quality sushi and omakase to Miami neighborhoods.
We chose among their three courses: OMA Deluxe (for big appetites), Oma, and the OMA Bite (which was just right for me). The pace was deliberate, each course arriving with care. The nigiri and hand roll selections shone with freshness, clean flavors, and balance. It’s clear they aim for a “leave it up to us” philosophy—trusting the chef’s choices—and in Doral they deliver it well.
What makes this restaurant special is how it combines fine sushi craft with accessibility: a relaxed ambiance, surprisingly affordable course menus, and a local presence in a growing Miami suburb. It’s the kind of place where you can catch up with friends without feeling fussed over, yet still partake in intricacy and care.
Pros
• Faithful omakase-style sushi with artful execution
• Multiple course levels to match hunger & budget
• Fresh ingredients & elegant plating
• Comfortable, modern setting in Doral with local energy
Cons
• Because of its rising popularity, seating fills up—reservations are wise
• It’s not ultra formal, so don’t expect traditional Japanese austerity
• Some may wish for even more rare fish or extravagance
Pro tip: Go for the OMA course or Deluxe if you want to experience more variety. And visit during happy hour (3–6:30 PM) to sample nigiri & hand-roll favorites at a better value.✨
If you’ve ever wondered whether Miami has a sushi scene that respects tradition and welcomes locals—Omakai Doral shows it can be done beautifully.
Our server, Andreina, was so sweet and attentive — she explained the menu really well and checked on us at the perfect times. Her service made the whole meal even better.
The vibe is relaxed, the portions are just right, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place!
Update. Came another time with Valeria as our server. Everything was still as amazing as I remember
