Olympic Flame has a unique dining experience and family fun for all. The belly dancers are amazingly talented. The performer could even balance plates on her head and walked the whole length of the room! She was very friendly and demonstrated some dance moves for my daughter. The servers were amazing, timely, and more than helpful. Truly went above and beyond when they went next door to get chocolate syrup just so my kid could have her chocolate milk! Awesome! When our water spilled, they were quick to bring towels and fresh silverware and handled the situation with grace. The food is excellent, and I love their dessert. I go here when I am craving baklava. On our most recent visit, it was my birthday and we received a seat by the window with a street view which was really nice! As nice as their imported alcohols. Bring your family here for supper!

Amazing food with quick and friendly service. The pita bread was some of the best I have ever had. The portions were very generous for the price. The gyro meal platter had me so full I couldn’t even attempt dessert. Gives an excuse to return there though haha. The greek fries were more like chunky circular wedges but absolutely delicious. My wife absolutely loved her falafel which was moist and well seasoned. Highly recommended.

Omg! This place stole my heart! One of the best Greek meals I’ve ever had. The food is authentically prepared by Angelo, with the warm support of his sweet wife, Mini. Both of them are incredibly kind and soft-spoken, making the experience feel even more special. The service was impeccable, and trust me, if you visit this place, you won’t regret it. The flavors, hospitality, and atmosphere will make you want to come back again and again!

Great little place! Happened in for lunch and stayed for a while as we were ahead of schedule for our afternoon meeting.
Saganaki appetizer is a don’t-miss! While this dish is reported to have been developed in Chicago in the last century (the tableside flambe, specifically) their version is a little different. For some reason (maybe just because it’s Iowa) they deep fry the block of cheese before bringing it to table to flambe. It’s their interpretation and certainly their right to add their own special touch but it didn’t resonate with me as I was hoping. The breading wound up a bit mushy but the cheese itself was spot-on. Served with respectable pita wedges and a big squeeze of lemon.
I had asked our server to help me decide between their traditional gyros and their roasted eggplant stuffed pita. She came back with a strong recommendation to go eggplant and she wasn’t wrong. It is described on the menu as roasted eggplant, lettuce, roasted tomatoes, onions, feta cheese & tzatziki on pita bread. What the menu didn’t say is that it was a fantastic explosion of flavors and textures all wrapped in a pillow-y pita. From the first bite to the last, this sandwich was pure enjoyment. I will serious have random thoughts about this sandwich for years to come – it was THAT good!
Family-run and a long-time institution in Des Moines. I’m quite glad to have been invited to lunch at this restaurant. Next time around, I’m getting the plate ‘o meat that I watched my boss demolish. Had my sandwich not been so tasty, I would have had major food envy because his plate looked damn good!

Great little restaurant me and my wife wanted to try something different than our usual spots. Our waitress was super nice and helpful with ordering. The soup was pretty good with, had to add some salt and pepper. The salad was probably the biggest complaint I’d have as if was doused in oil. The appetizer of pitta brad and gyro sauce was incredible. The bread was warm and fresh, easily could have eaten it by itself. Our main dishes were really good too! I would maybe order something different than just the three meats but it was nice to try all of their cuts. Will definitely keep this in as restaurant to revisit.

The food was delicious great flavor and affordable pricing. Small, personal and calm setting. Also, the waiter Chris was very sweet, welcoming as well as calming. He went above and beyond to find some Moscato in the back for me bc I like sweeter wines. Brought me a small sample so I could try it first. I’ll definitely be back! Souvlaki is amazing as well as the Greek Fries! Wine is like $7 a glass so cheap.

We stopped in for a late afternoon Valentine lunch. The server was very friendly and told us the history of the restaurant. She also cooked some of our food!! We had Vegetarian Dolmathes, Greek Salad, Egg Plant Sandwich (Our Fav) and of course Baklava. Everything was delicious. The hot tea was hot and refilled and the beer nice and cold.

A cute little piece of Greece in the East Village of Des Moines, Iowa! The food is flavorful and fresh and so tasty with fun greek decor! For drinks, I had the cherry coke and my boyfriend had the imported Aris greek beer. The cherry coke was so fresh, crisp, and fizzy. I usually don’t like cherry coke but the quality of it here was great. My boyfriend really enjoyed the greek beer and for an appetizer, we had the Mezethakia. The presentation was great and the gyro and chicken and pork were sizzling from what I remember and it tasted just as great as it looked, if not more. The greek olives were super memorable and the mix of tomato and feta cheese and pita made me so happy! I had the falafel sandwich and my boyfriend had the gyro. We absolutely loved how generous the portions were how tasty everything was. Best falafel I’ve tasted in my opinion! For dessert, our awesome and friendly waitress convinced us to share the baklava, and I’m so glad she did! A comforting and sweet flaky dessert that absolutely can not be skipped. Thank you Olympic Flame!!

I love this place so much! The owners here are so nice and attentive. They really want to make everyone’s experience memorable. The food was fresh and delicious. It reminded My gluten-free friends were able to find foods they could enjoy. We stopped in before a concert at Wooly’s. I highly recommend the flaming cheese if you’re into that sort of thing! They do run out of it often though so I’d try to get in before the dinner rush. It’s just so popular!
