In March 2018, Oliver’s in the Heights changed ownership. While the name and famed pizza recipe remains, other aspects keep evolving. Our entire upstairs bar and kitchen have been renovated and we’ve got an expanded menu. Plus, we’ve added new spaces—including an enclosed outdoor patio, basement bar, 1231 room, and speakeasy. Oliver’s also features the largest outdoor beer garden in the Heights, complete with a stage, concession booth, and firepit. It’s the ideal place to enjoy free live music! And, with indoor and outdoor options, Oliver’s is a great choice to host events for friends, family, and business, with ample free parking nearby. Stop by for Great Food, Great Service, Great Music, and Great Atmosphere soon.
Lively locale with a variety of pizzas & pub grub, plus a schedule of regular live music.

We decided it was too loud outside, so we chose to get a seat inside. It was still very busy, but you could talk and that’s what we wanted.
We started with some boneless wings and hot honey cheese bites. Both were outstanding. The hot honey cheese bites were crunchy on the outside and gooey cheesy delicious on the inside with a perfectly tasty sweet and spicy dipping sauce.
We ordered a taco pizza and Oliver’s version of a supreme (sausage, mushroom, green pepper, and onion). I preferred the taco … it was really good. I would have liked to have seen more toppings on the deluxe. Both were super thin and crispy.
The service was really poor, after our order was taken the server just sat on the side of the bar and we couldn’t even wave her down. We didn’t get any refills on our drinks and we even asked a passerby server for another drink and it still didn’t happen. When we were done with our food we waited over 25 minutes for our server for a box, which still didn’t happen. We were here for 2.5 hours and she only came over to take our order and bring food, rest of the night basically ignored us and sat by the side. I wouldn’t have minded if she was busy.
We had to go to the bar for a takeout box and asks for a drink to go, which we waited over 10 minutes for the drinks and just decided to leave without.
I was also kindof shocked by the bill. Over 50$ for a pizza and two beers.
We also met some friends there, and they got drinks at the bar (because the waitress wouldn’t come to the table) and they got charged two different prices for the exact same drink through the night.
The food was good, but really overpriced.
Our group collectively decided we likely won’t be coming back to Oliver’s in the future, mostly due to the inconstant expensive prices and the rough service.
Music was great, sound man did very well. Atmosphere was wonderful outside with great lighting.
Pros:
I’ve never had bad food or drink. The pizzas are among the best in Peoria. During the warmer months, the atmosphere of the large outdoor dining area is fantastic, and the live music is usually a good vibe.
Cons:
Frankly, it’s all service related. I suspect the place is understaffed, and that’s a shame. Nevertheless, it means long waits, servers who aren’t able to provide a good experience, dirty tables, and just a general sense of being ignored. To be clear, staff has always been polite and professional, but distracted and stretched thin.
Twice now I’ve been seated with a small group only to have to leave after 20+ minutes of no service at all. It’s disappointing, and I’m at the point where I likely won’t be going back anytime soon.
TLDR: Great food, good atmosphere, poor service.
