We’ve visited Oliverii North in Antioch twice now—our first visit was truly excellent, but unfortunately, our second time didn’t quite measure up.
On our first visit, the experience was everything you’d hope for in a great Italian restaurant. The meal started strong with fresh bread served with olive oil and parmesan, setting the tone for a delicious dinner. Standout dishes included the Chicken Marsala, Shrimp Scampi, and hearty Lasagna, all generous portions with enough for leftovers. The Pollo Fiorentina was a highlight—tender chicken with spinach and mozzarella in a creamy Marsala wine sauce—absolutely worth trying. The service was warm and personable, making the night even better.
However, our second visit was a letdown. Though we had a 5 PM reservation, it was bumped up to 4:45 PM, and then we waited over 45 minutes before our server even took our drink order. The bread, which had been a favorite, arrived over-toasted and crunchy, not the soft Italian loaf we remembered. My husband’s whitefish was mushy, and the scallop special my mother and I ordered was disappointingly chewy. The service was noticeably slow, possibly due to the crowd, but it impacted the overall experience.
We know that every restaurant can have an off night, and since we’ve seen Oliverii North at its best, we’re hopeful this was just that. We’d love to return when they’re back on top of their game—because when they’re good, they’re really good.
And of course we were wearing all white for that lol
