What a lovely place to sit by the canal and grab a bite to eat.

Let’s get the only negative out of the way first. Two lunches and two drinks came to about £45. Is it a bit pricey? Yes. Would I like it cheaper? Of course. But I’d also like to win the lottery. The reality is the location and food quality justify it, and if anything I’m slightly surprised it isn’t even more expensive (please don’t put the prices up).

Now onto the good stuff.

I ordered a blue matcha (yes, I know it’s usually green). Was it worth it? Maybe not… but it tasted good and it makes a great photo.

My partner had a latte made with Lavazza, which is always a good sign, along with wild mushrooms on sourdough. It was rich, creamy, and the egg on top was absolutely lush.

I had prawns in oil with garlic and chilli, served with sourdough to dip. Just a heads up, it is quite oily, but that’s how the dish is meant to be. If you’re not a fan of that, you might want to choose something else.

We also ordered the truffle fries and honestly these might be the best truffle fries I’ve ever had. I’ve eaten a lot of them over the years, but they were incredible. The cheese coated the chips perfectly and they weren’t oily at all.

The grilled mackerel on the menu also sounded amazing, so that’s definitely what I’ll be trying next time.

And then there’s the view. You’re right next to the canal with some seriously posh houses to look at, and the beach is about a five minute walk away.

Overall: fantastic food, a beautiful spot to sit outside in the sun, and really lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Outstanding, is certainly a word I would use. I came here for breakfast. Well was more like brunch 🙂 but wow the breakfast was amazing and fresh. The service was impeccable and attentive to say the least. Upon arrival I was greeted with amazing smiles and a lovely warm welcome. Would highly recommend this to all friends and family. 5 stars all around I say here.

Highly recommend to Olive tree if you are looking for a decent meal with decent view!
12 of us we stayed at Sandparks Campsite for 2 nights and we forgot to book any tables on Sat night!
Luckily we were able to walk in and enjoyed the meal around 8pm.

The staff are very friendly and food is lovely! We enjoyed so much and will come back next time! Will highly recommend to friends too!

Thanks all @ Olive tree

We’ve been meaning to visit the Olive Tree for ages, but often avoid Bude in the summer due to how busy it gets. We finally visited and realised we haven’t been missing out!
The staff are warm and friendly and we’re wonderful with our 8 month old daughter – she got a grand tour!
We had coffee/tea, the mackerel and a breakfast, followed by cake (because it was a brunch for us). Faultless and fantastic food.
We will be recommending it to all of our guests, and in the summer we will make sure we book so we can enjoy it too!

Great place to eat gluten free in Bude! With continental vibes from its classy outdoor seating, this was a lovely place to eat lunch and watch the world go by.
Their Cornish mussels put French ones to shame, and the Monkfish scampi was a great hit too.

Busy lunchtime so it took a while before we were seated, and the food also took over 30 minutes to be served. Waitstaff was nice, but the serving times were just too long. Food is okay. Good, but nothing special.

The staff are lovely and found us a table quickly even during rush hour lunchtime. But quality and quantity of food could be improved.
I had vegan fish and chips which come nowhere close to the size of a regular one and was a load of just chips.
Also, portion sizes of tacos were disappointing. You’d expect atleast 3 if you’re paying £15 for a main meal. It just tasted of BBQ sauce as was lathered in it.

Excellent food, friendly staff, warm and welcoming atmosphere. They have a really good selection of vegetarian meals available. No qualms altering meals. Quick service for drinks and though their welcome board warns of a little wait due to the freshlt cooked food during busier times, the wait for food wasn’t long at all. The prices were very reasonable especially for the quality of ingredients in the meals. Definitely going there next time we visit Bude.

It’s so good for lunch that we have been three times in one week! The best prawn sandwiches, burgers and Buddha bowl! Lovely venue by the canal too and really dog friendly. We sat outside in the sunshine each time. They have a great trade here and I can see why! Thanks

A great little spot recommended by our Airbnb hosts. We went in for a light lunch and the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for the team and they were all super welcoming! The food was yummy and well priced. A good little pit stop whilst walking a round the town and beach ♥️
