Last Saturday, approximately one week ago, my wife and I made a brief stop at the Ankeny Olive Garden restaurant before attending my hearing aid fitting appointment. It was 1:00 PM when we arrived, and fortunately, we managed to secure a parking space.
Given my upcoming appointment, I was slightly apprehensive about securing a seat and having our order taken and still make my appointment. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the efficient service we received. We were seated promptly and had our orders taken without any delay.
The speed at which our food arrived was remarkable. Our server, Phillip, provided exceptional care and attentiveness throughout our visit, addressing our menu inquiries and ensuring our comfort. The garlic bread was piping hot and exceptionally tender. Initially, there were four portions, but we were too eager to resist and indulged.
As is customary at Olive Garden, the salad was exceptional, and the dressing was particularly delectable. The bowl pictured contained more, but again we were too impatient to wait and eagerly devoured it. My spaghetti and meatballs were delectable, with the meatballs being particularly flavorful as was the marinara sauce. Pam’s order of fettuccine alfredo (not pictured) was generously portioned and exceptionally tasty.
On every occasion we have visited this Olive Garden location, the experience has been consistently exceptional. The restaurant’s management demonstrates exceptional skill in providing outstanding service and delectable entrees.

Extremely Disappointing To-Go Order from Olive Garden
We ordered Olive Garden to-go, and honestly, it was a huge letdown. We paid about $40 for two bowls, and what we got looked more like kid-sized portions. For $16–$19 per bowl, the serving sizes were tiny — nowhere near what you’d expect for the price.
It’s frustrating to spend that much and still feel like you didn’t get a full meal. If takeout portions are going to be this small, it really makes us rethink ordering to-go from Olive Garden again.

One of my wife’s favorite places. She has Alpha-gal, and I am probably spelling that wrong. (It’s that tick bite disease that radically messes up your diet.) She once owned a restaurant herself. She is impressed with Olive Gardens’ attention to detail with the freshness and temperature (cold) of the salad.

Wife and I have been going to this location for 3 years and tonight we learned that if you want soup and salad they are charging $5.79 for a bowl of soup that I had 6 spoon fulls of soup with 1 small piece of chicken in the gnocchi soup. You don’t get soup, salad, and breadsticks anymore. It’s soup or salad. So for the first time in 15 years of going to Olive Garden we got charged for this. Server didn’t even mention this change to us. Had to ask for refills of drinks/bread and it was no where close to being busy. Had a good personality and was friendly but doesn’t communicate well.

Had an overall very poor experience, only thing keeping it from 1 star was that the food was food however service was terrible. Wasn’t offered refills on soup, had asked for another drink and never got it. Every time I interacted with the waiter the vibe I got is they didnt want to serve us.

Olivia was a phenomenal waitress. She worked her butt off this evening and I really hope that management notices how amazing she is! My husband and I haven’t had great service like that in a very long time. Her attitude was amazing. She was very attentive, friendly and genuine.

Arrived and were immediately sat. Then waited 10 minutes before or server came. Ordered appetizer and meals. 16 minutes later he finally came back with our waters/drinks. Not impressed. I don’t think Buddy Holly was much of a waiter. Then he arrived with drinks salad and appetizers. Dinner plate was dirty. So he left to get a new one. No straws so we sat and waited for him to return with the plate. Had to ask for straws. Meals arrived. Waitor asked my son if he would like a refill on his ice tea. He said yes. We finished our meals reasked for that refill. He brought our to go box….. Still no tea. Paid for the meal and guess what. The tea arrived. Not in a to go cup either. So son chugged it down with my straw. Because yep you guessed it. No new straw!

Abbey was our waitress on a Wednesday afternoon around 4:00. After we were seated it took over 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table w menus and water. It took all Abbey had to bring our water and take our order. She really had no personality and did not want to be there. After taking our order, she walked away with the menus laying on the table. After our apps and salad, she came by to check on us. Then she walked away without clearing a dish. There were many empty stacked plates and soup bowls, and the empty salad bowl. We she came back again, I asked her (first time ever to a server) if she could clear our plates. She took one stack of two plates and left all the rest. She came w our entrees and there was nowhere to put them because once again, there were empty dishes everywhere. I politely called her out on being so unprofessional.
