I visited Olive Garden in Newport News yesterday, and I have to say – the service was amazing. My bartender/server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and really made the experience enjoyable. Between the good conversation and the tasty appetizers, I was full and happy by the time my entrée came out.
Since I couldn’t finish my meal, I boxed it up to enjoy for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, that’s where things took a turn. When I reheated my leftovers, I discovered a long strand of blonde hair tangled throughout my food. My heart sank – I was so excited to eat it, and finding that just ruined my appetite completely.
It’s truly disappointing because the service in the restaurant was great, but this kind of oversight in food handling is unacceptable. I would strongly encourage the staff to take better safety and hygiene measures, especially regarding proper hair restraints in the kitchen.
I really wanted to give this place five stars, but that discovery changed everything. A great experience turned into a big letdown. I ended up throwing it away.

I ordered the Tour of Italy. The lasagna was amazing, the Alfredo was rich and flavorful, and the chicken parm ended up being the highlight of the meal. A great experience from start to finish.

Went here for the first time a few nights ago for dinner with a friend. The young hostesses were snarky and rude, so we sat at the bar. The bartender whose name is don’t remember, was amazing! He was a younger gentleman with blonde hair if that helps. He was very attentive, friendly and helpful. He could tell we did not like our food but didn’t pressure us to send it back and I appreciated that. He was the only good thing here.
The food was flat out disgusting. I ordered the stuffed chicken marsala and my friend ordered the chicken Alfredo. On both plates our chicken was rubbery, It was inedible. As someone who works in a kitchen I can tell you that food was microwaved, it was hot as hell in the middle and warm at best on the outside. Not worth the $21 we paid per plate, for that cost I expected far better quality food that was actually cooked and not reheated. I won’t be back and I’ll warn anyone who tells me they intended to eat here to steer clear. The only edible food was the free bread sticks.

Went with a large group for lunch. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the food was pretty tasty. I ordered the unlimited soup, salad, and bread sticks. The bowls were pretty small, so I suggest ordering as soon as they bring one to you. I ordered a third bowl, but it never came. I assume the waitress forgot because someone else ordered from her, and she didn’t write down my request, but wrote down his. By the time I realized I wasn’t getting another bowl, it was time to go. We all had a great meal though.

The food is great, you always know what you are getting. The servers here are quick to be there, but not intrusive. A bit tight in the seating, but after appetizers, bread, salad, then the entrée, maybe it was me getting bigger and not the seating being so tight. This is a good place, albeit a chain restaurant, the food is great, the staff is cordial and efficient, even on a busy Saturday evening.

Needless to say this is my very first negative review for Olive Garden. I tried to join the waitlist and the app wouldn’t let. Came in and told the hostess gave me some crap reason saying the dining room was full. I have never ever had that issue before . I have had many date nights at this specific location with my husband, had a girls day here, and had my engagement party here. Always full , so that’s how I knew it was a crap reason . They deberatly turned off the waitlist feature. Then had the nerve to try to tell us to wait outside with my disabled mother in law who can’t wait outside in the heat. Then said our table was ready then proceeded to seat another party of 3. Never in my life have I received such service. Hostess did not care at all. I haven’t even seen so much of a manager since I have been here. They told us a 15 min wait it has now been more then an hour. I have never been so disappointed in olive garden. More to come that’s if I decide to stay after being treated like this.finally got seated . The place being full was a load of crap bc there were empty tables. Our server Naf was great, he was funny and kind. And acknowledged us even when he was busy. Something still needs to be done about whatever is going on up front though . Food was excellent as always . Shout out to raf for being transparent about the real reason why the waitlist was shut off, they had to close down a couple sections due to call outs , and had two very big parties that the rest of the servers were preoccupied with , so they didn’t have anyone to serve the empty tables. Needless to say, if they waitlist is shut off don’t come here bc it means new hostesses that don’t know what they are doing , a better solution would be a hostess vet to assist the new one and handle all that so whoever decided to put two new people up there instead of one new and one vet , clearly had poor decision making . It would be fine on a week night if it was slow, but on a weekend that’s terrible

Food was good but we were hoping that by placing appetizers in 10 minutes before dinner order would give a little separation on the arrival time of our order but the appetizers still came out with the dinner order, only 3 minutes after getting our soup and salad. And the service was slow considering it was dead enough inside for the majority of staff to stand near front on their phones while waiting for something to do. We never once were offered refills for our drinks.

I came to Olive Garden on – Jefferson Ave in Newport News Va – and I explained to the waitress that I was on a no sugar no carb diet. She asked her manager what menu items would support my diet. Her manager showed me their nutritional table on the table Ziosk. Then she spent 15 minutes with me to help me build an awesome meal to support my diet. A manager never done that for me in the past. This manager really knew her stuff. She not only built me a good meal, but she customized “how” the chef was to prepare it JUST FOR ME! The manager name was Candace and Emily was my waiter. If I wasn’t just passing thru, id come here every day! Thank you so much Candace!

Olive Garden has been amazing every time I order online! My daughter has multiple food allergies, and they always take the time to accommodate her safely. Their attention to detail and wonderful customer service give me peace of mind knowing her food is safe. The staff is always kind, careful, and professional truly one of the few places we can trust and enjoy as a family.

Great service and the food came out mysteriously fast. Restaurant was very clean and all the staff were courteous. Food was hot and very good. Been to numerous Olive Garden locations all over the country but this location is doing something to be a little extra special.
