The food was good. The tables are very small. The atmosphere was okay but then a rolling cart of dishes kept going by to clear tables after people left. That gave the atmosphere a cafeteria vibe and really brought the quality down. The cart was very loud and was constantly coming through clearing dishes. At one point I bent down to pick something up and nearly had it run into my head, I dodged it just in time.

Waited to get seated for 20 minutes which was perfectly fine. However, we got seated before a team of 19 soccer players that they had the table set for. They sat us literally in touching distance of these loud kids and ignored us until they brought in and sat the team about 3 minutes later proceeded to take their orders and we ordered our drinks and apps on the table tablet and after 15 minutes of being ignored and not brought any of our drinks we decided to leave because with 40 minutes left of the kitchen being open we figured our endless soup and bread sticks would be one bowl of soup and one basket of breadsticks if we were lucky. Common sense says to serve the smaller party of 2 that you sat first before the party of 19 you say after.

We had date night and everything was delicious as usual. I ordered the Giant Stuffed Shells (w/o Marinara Sauce) and I added Grilled Chicken. My husband had the same meal except he kept the Marinara Sauce it comes with & added Shrimp. I also ordered the Chicken Gnocchi Soup which is so good. My favorite soup. Our server was Gabriella & it was her first night working. She did an amazing job. Great server. Very friendly.

Olive Gardens is an excellent choice of restaurants in Newport News their staff is always friendly courteous and kind we’ve seen each server at least three or four times there and they know me by what I eat and what I drink and the other night we had Mercedes as our server this young lady was outstanding she did everything she could to help everybody in her area food was out on time appetizers and drinks were were taken care of immediately and then at the end of the night we left her her tip and everything and my wife left her card in the machine Mercedes ran out into the parking lot trying to give it back to my wife but my wife would already reach the parking lot and at the light and was going through the intersection the next morning my wife called because she couldn’t find her card and the manager told her yes they had it it was locked up my wife went and got it the staff has earned all my respect and yes I would recommend this restaurant to everybody I come in contact
