Simply delightful. We absolutely love this place, the food and all the people working there! We love the bar and the great drink choices! They have delicious appetizers as well! Whether you want to dress up and have a date night, friends night out, or simply family time, it’s the perfect place. My family loves going to Oliva’s and are grateful for what they do!

It was our 34th anniversary celebration. We told our waitress that I am gluten intolerant. We said we’d like her help ordering, to keep us from accidentally ordering something that would make me sick. She said it was her first Saturday at Oliva’s, but she would get someone to help. The hostess came and brought me a gluten free menu. We ordered prime rib, a loaded baked potato, and a side salad, no croutons. We told the waitress we’d like to have her take her time, no rush. Our steaks came out after just a few bites of salad, however. When I saw my steak, I realized that I’d forgotten to order mushrooms and asked if I could have an order of sautéed mushrooms for my steak. When the waitress came back with them, I poured some of the mushrooms onto my steak. I then realized the mushrooms had a color to the juice they were in, not just regular sautéed mushrooms. When she came back, I asked her if the mushrooms were gluten free. She went to check and came back to say they were not. As I had poured mushrooms and juice onto my steak, I could no longer eat it without getting very sick, so I asked her for a different piece of steak. The head waiter came out, said he’d have to check with the manager/owner.
When he returned he said they rinsed my steak with au jus and that was the best he was allowed to do. He informed us that we would pay for the steak whether or not I was able to eat it. Since it hurts far too much, for far too many hours when I ingest gluten; I could not eat that steak.
We were not given any compensation for our ruined anniversary dinner. We paid in full.
We enjoyed Oliva’s in the past, but we were not given the service we had come to expect. We will not be going back.
***In reply to Oliva’s statement, my prime rib was cooked perfectly. My husband’s prime was well-done even though he ordered his steak rare, right after I ordered. We sent his back so he would get the steak he ordered. We did not send mine back until the incident with the mushrooms above. I did not see his steak relevant to my issue, since it had been replaced with a rare steak.

Went in today at 3pm for the fish fry. It took a while for anyone to acknowledge that we were waiting to be seated. It may be my fault because I showed up earlier than my reservation, but there were 3 people behind the bar, so I figured someone would at least let us know that they’ll be with us in a moment. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive once we were seated. We were the only people in the dining room.
We both ordered 2pc beer battered haddock, one with baked potato and the other with fettuccine Alfredo as a side. The fish was super hot when it came to the table but the pasta was warmish. The Alfredo didn’t have much taste to it, but it was alright. The fish was crispy/crunchy but almost like it got fried too long.
I went there for a good wisco Friday fish fry and left afterward with an experience I’ll forget. It definitely didn’t exceed my expectations, but I don’t really know how they could improve.
Just to summarize, the food wasn’t bad; it just wasn’t memorable.

Would not recommend the antipasto plate, it sounds delicious but when you get thinly sliced deli meats and cheeses it felt like we ordered a subway sandwich with out the bun. Was shocked it did not come with crackers but they were not in the description so I should have expected that. The Potato cheddar soup was not bad tasting, however it really should have been hot and not luke warm. The gorgonzola steak was cooked perfectly for medium rare, however the quality of the meat was subpar as it was tough and gritty kind of like a steak I would expect to get at Kwik trip. The gorgonzola cheese sauce you could tell was made from scratch which was ok, but didn’t have much of a gorgonzola taste so maybe they ran out of gorgonzola. I feel like a better cut of steak would have made up for the lack of gorgonzola. My fiance ordered the chicken picatta, which was eh. It’s chicken breast so it’s dry, nothing there to make it more flavor full. The truffle fries were good, but again they were like warm. The place was not busy at all there were three other tables and two waitresses. We set our empty caraffe of water at the end of the table but apparently that wasn’t enough of a sign to our waitress to fill it up even after bringing our food and checking on how things were going. I normally would have asked for more water but at this point I just wanted to get the check and go. I’m not going to comment on the atmosphere bc it didn’t change since Gulliver’s so you know what you’re getting yourself into. Was really looking forward to trying out the place. I will give it another attempt bc maybe it was just a bad day at the restaurant as that happens at times so I always try a new place at least twice before deciding if it’s worth it or not. But it definitely needs some attention.

My husband and I always enjoy Gulliver’s when the Neuske’s ran it, and their food was exceptional.
We went there tonight with an open mind, but were very disappointed. We both had the fish fry and though the portions were acceptable the flavor wasn’t there. The batter had little flavor and the fish absolutely none. His garlic mashed potatoes were plain mashed potatoes with no butter, no milk, no seasoning and definitely no garlic. But the real killer was the bread, we got three little rolls in place of the SLAB of homemade rye bread that always came with the Neuske’s fish fry.
And the atmosphere was very cold like an impersonable restaurant instead of the old time supper club feeling it once had.
I know everything changes, and quite honestly Gulliver’s needs to change back to their former owners.

Dear God, this place needs some help! First thing you notice when you walk in, is how horrible it smells. Old, greasy, disgusting, rotting carpeting smell. It just lingers in the air the entire time you are there making you nauseous.
My “truffle” fries came out ice, cold, and had absolutely no taste of truffle. I feel like they just tossed them in some vegetable oil and threw some Parmesan cheese on top. when I told the waitress, I think they forgot the truffle oil, she said really? And just walked away. I have never tasted truffle fries this horrible before. Not to mention half of them were frozen.
20 minutes later, my soup came out. Cold. Nowhere near warm enough. I thought it was gazpacho. Like do you guys serve this cold? That’s just how horrible they are.
Despite wanting to leave right there in there, I decided to give the entrée a chance.
Flavorless! They pre-make the noodles so they are quickly warmed in some water and throw it on top of some sauce that has no seasoning in it. The noodles themselves weren’t even boiled in saltwater. More than likely microwaved.
If for some reason, they offer me a free meal here, there’s no chance I would ever come back. I don’t think I can give them another chance. Nothing about this place says professional. Nothing about this place says cleanliness. Nothing about this place says we care about you.

We ordered the meatball appetizer which was ok.. didn’t taste any better than my homemade meatballs..maybe worse. I had the poor man’s lobster— NOT good. Fish was chewy and extremely bland. Garlic mashed potatoes were not fresh and extremely gummy. Husband had Chicken Marsala- This was just bad all the way around. Over fried chicken – fried in what tasted like rancid oil..I do not recommend this restaurant… there are far better restaurants and even fast food would be a better choice than here.

Ok – This place is a combo of “Dinner Club” and just great food. I had the marinara meat sauce and it was spectacular. The calamari app was also fabulous. I don’t know if they let you share, but the portions are significant. Nice people, great service. Can’t go wrong here!!
