Oliva al Mare – Gluten-Free Italian Restaurant in La Paz
Reviews
My wife and I shared a Pizza – Salami and Mushroom, a pasta with shrimp and the goat cheese salad.
The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The food was honestly some of the best we’ve had (my wife is Italian and is a great cook) outside of Italy and our home. The Pizza was cooked perfectly, good portion of toppings, crispy crust – delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked, sauce was amazing and the shrimp clearly very fresh. The goat cheese salad was so tasty. Biggest problem we’ll have returning is deviating from what was clearly a perfect combination of dishes!
The only caveat is accessibility. To get to the second or third floors, it’s a spiral stairwell. Anyone with mobility issues may find that a challenge.
Update: we checked out the oliva al mar proper: and it was also very good. Since many people liked cocktails, I ordered a la Cubana: refreshing and very strong.
The fish of the day was a little salty for me but my friend liked it a lot (my taste is lighter than the most), and the crispy skin was delicious. The beet salad was very interesting too. And the 70% chocolate cake was probably the best.
Based on my personal experience, i think the pizzas are the best, better than the main restaurant, but both are very good and the service was friendly, professional and attentive in both. And after dark when the lights come on, it was very romantic and intimate. A good date spot if anyone is considering.
For dinner, I ordered a delicious margarita pizza which was absolutely perfect. The crust was a nice blend of crispy and chewy, and the fresh basil leaves and mozzarella were excellent. I also enjoyed a glass of red wine, which paired perfectly with the meal. It was so relaxing to read my book and enjoy a great meal and a glass of wine.
The service was attentive and the staff was very welcoming.
I would highly recommend Oliva al Mare for anyone looking for a great Italian meal with a fantastic ambiance in La Paz.
Thank you to the staff.
They provide guidance to meal and drink selection to enhance your experience.
Food / drink posted are my top selection.
It’s a MUST visit
The food is good.
However, if you want to be overcharged on your bill, this is the right place.
They added more than 300 pesos to our check.
They fixed the issue after 15 minutes, without any apology or complimentary gesture, and then had the audacity to ask for a tip.
