Fresh and delicious offering. Relaxing atmosphere. Lovely chef and support chef.

We enjoyed a fresh salad with a wonderful variety of leafy greens and radish, edamame, the mixed grilled seafood, the seafood and vegetable tempura, crème brûlée (topped with and including inside, Yamagata’s La France pear) and fresh strawberries. We also enjoyed some of the sake (Nihonshu) – 漆黒純米 (I think it was). The selection of seafood and vegetables was perfectly fresh and cooked just right.

The chef entertained my limited Japanese as I tried to practice but he was clearly fluent and comfortable in English as well.

We will absolutely dine there again!

For this price point you would think the food would be fresh but it’s not. The shrimps and squid were rubbery, the sushi were average. The tempura were too oily, the pizza dough were like bread. The service was nice tho.

We came in excited to try what was advertised as a Japanese Italian fusion restaurant, but the menu didn’t match at all. It was mostly overpriced sushi (e.g. $18 AUD for six tiny rolls) and the only Italian option was a margherita pizza.

After being seated, we asked for a minute to look at the menu and the waiter rolled his eyes, scoffed, and walked off with a terrible attitude. When we politely decided to leave, he continued the eye-rolling and shaking his head as we exited.

We were respectful the entire time. The staff attitude was completely unnecessary and disappointing.

This is very disappointing and unexpected especially in Japan.

This place is incredible. Easily the best food on the mountain. The price may be higher than a standard restaurant but the food is high quality and super fresh. If you want high quality food and sushi especially. Come here. Owner and staff are super friendly. Speak English well and offer great service

Very disappointing. Way overpriced sushi considering so far everywhere we have eaten has been cheap and good quality. $17 for 6 baby tuna rolls. Let’s just say we left still hungry

Nice restaurant located immediately at the slopes of Kokusai @ HappoOne (very close to the Kokusai 1 ski lift). This is a very convenient place to have food, after a ski session (lunch / dinner). Or if kids are at ski school, Olion is a very nice place to have good food, with nice jazz music.
Food wise, it is generally good, they have their own version of sushi “oil sushi” which does not use soysauce, but salt and flavoured oil instead. Something unique, and does taste quite nice / somewhat different. Has other food as well including sushi roll, tempura, tonkatsu, upon, rice, grills (Yamagata Wagyu, lamb, pork spare ribs, seafood, veg) and etc.
Also serves wine, beer and sake. But no coffee…
Place is clean and service is great. Came here twice. Average price depends on what is ordered.

Food was terrible. Their kind of fusion Sushi is not my cup of tea. They try to match each sushi with a specific oil, but the overall control of the taste is just terrible. One of the worst sushi I’ve had all time. Price wasn’t exactly on the low side. Don’t go.

Fantastic vibe with jazz music playing in the background. Close enough to the slopes to make it a breeze to make it for lunch. The food is fresh and delicious
