Absolutely awesome
The very best place we’ve been on our roadtrip from Chicago and back.
Great hospitality
Tasty food
And it really is served on ceramic plates and real silverware nothing plastic at all. What a delight. cloth napkin. Wow
We LOVE this place.
The menu has a lot more to choose from along with soup or coffee.
Tons of teas and coffee to pick from.
Try to collect them all
For the lost love of my life, I would give all my wasted and restless youth to see your glowing smile next to me as I pour you another glass of your favorite Chocolate Oolang tea while we whimsically banter over terrible vampire novels and how we will have to re-write them to save single woman of the future from idealizing poorly crafted characters who can only manage cheap dialog through disappointingly predictable plot twists.
For the brother that died to young, if it would resurrect you I would sacrifice an arm so we could again yell like overly caffeinated schoolboys while we pound far to many shots of Oliphant’s Conrado and Doppio espressos while we argue over how Star Wars should have ended and how Disney terribly ruined the whole saga.
For the friend that took a bullet to the chest in Afghanistan, how overwhelmed with joy would I be to reminisce with you about our love of the panini press at the midnight sandwich bar on FOB Warrior while we lavishly enjoy the Oliphant’s gourmet Banh Mi panini.
For the grandmother stolen from me by years of Parkinson’s, my God how I always wanted to have this conversation. To finally hear your beautifully accented voice tell me you love me and listen starry-eyed while you sip your Chai and tell me all your stories of growing up in Japan and traveling the world through 9 decades of the last century.
For the charming daughter who hasn’t spoken to me in years, how I long to hear your silly laugh as you order a pot of strawberry truffle pu-erh tea. All the heartbroken days without you would be mended one glass at a time as I listen to the stories of your friends and your dearest dreams of the future, a father’s hour in pure heaven.
For the father I never told “I love you”, for the grandfather I idolized as a child, for my child never born….
At the Oliphant the stage is set, the perfect table made for a dearest love. Don’t wait, pour the tea, speak the words, don’t miss the opportunity to have the conversation you always wanted or sorrowfully you may have to live with all the words left unsaid.
