I’ve been a fan of Bud since his days at Butcher Block, and his newest spot absolutely didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend the Lobster Francese and the Chicken Fried Short Rib — excellent flavor profiles and a really unique appetizer approach. Definitely worth a visit.
The decor is elegant and tasteful. For me, as an older person (lol), lighting is important. It was not at all bright, yet bright enough to be able to easily read the menus without having to break out the cell phone flashlight. The background music was also at a level that made it barely noticeable during normal dinner conversation.
Our meal started with drinks and a plate of bread that had a butter/ garlic melted into it, as well as some green Olives. At first bite, we were ready to spend the night eating bread and taking our meals home! Our drinks were the Voodoo Child and the Personal Jesus. Both were beautifully presented, looking just as good as the flavors they had. The Voodoo Child was as described, an antipasto in a drink. It was unique and delicious! The Personal Jesus was light, refreshing and equally tasteful.
Our appetizers consisted of the fried lobster, steak tartar and Cesar salad. The full leaf Cesar salad was well dressed, full of crunch and flavorful. The fried lobster is 4 lobster balls, deep fried to a crunch, with a filling that is creamy and tasty. The steak tartar was amazing! Creamy feel, with a soft, tender bite. Loved the flavors and my only wish was that there was a 2nd piece of toast with it. Of course I could have asked for more and would have received it, but I didn’t feel it was necessary.
Our meals consisted of the scallops, the 16 oz. prime, bone in strip steak, the double cut pork chop and the pappardelle bolognese. The scallops were practically melt in your mouth delicious, the steak served perfectly rare and the pork was divine! The pork had a tender bite to it that made you wanting more.
We also had sides of brussel sprouts and crispy potatoes. The crispy potatoes were the best! Full crunch on the outside and soft, creamy potato in the middle. One of those things that you just want to eat more of. The brussel sprouts were delicious as well, with a slight touch of heat with good flavors. The sides are served family style, so one side is plenty for 4 people (in my opinion anyway).
Despite only having ate half our food, we felt the need to have a dessert, after hearing raves about the orange olive oil cake. We had that as well as the churro bites and an affogato. The cake was as good as expected. A large slice that was dense yet tender with fresh whipped cream that wasn’t too sweet. Easily a dessert 2 can share. The churro bites were like everything else, perfect. A nice crunchy bite with that cinnamon sugar taste and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The affogato was prepared table side. A good scoop or two of vanilla ice cream with a healthy portion of fresh, hot espresso poured over.
It is definitely the perfect place to enjoy an amazing meal or celebrate a special event. We look forward to returning and trying more items on the menu!
Although service on New Year’s Day fell short of excellence, particularly from our server, who seemed overwhelmed. We requested lemons twice, unfortunately, it never arrived, necessitating a request to another server. Fortunately, the dessert more than made up for it, though initially, we were told no cappuccino was available due to a malfunctioning machine, so l opted for a regular coffee instead.
Regrettably, this order was
overlooked. So I never received the coffee. Regular coffee. She was horrible! We even spoke to Billy, the general manager about her. He was very attentive, and totally understood the situation. It would have been a great gesture on the restaurant side, if they would have given us the dessert complimentary. But no, the restaurant still charged us. On a positive note, the sundae was a delight, rich and decadent, showcasing the kitchen’s capability.
