We drove 45-50 minutes here from the Altoona area and for the most part was not disappointed. Unfortunately my wife’s meal was a swing and a miss but the rest of our food was very good. The waitress was on top of everything and had a very positive attitude and polite. She was even nice enough to comp the meal. Pierogie appetizer was absolutely delicious and the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake OMG!! The Bavarian Pretzel appetizer is a meal in itself!! Would more than likely come back again.

Been coming here for years, I came by last night for the first time in almost a decade, had to stop by. Had a great experience as always, they have a small but nice German menu and I love their Spätzle. They had a weekly menu item for Oktoberfest, was kind of cool, but watch out for the portion sizes! You won’t be disappointed.

We ordered the Calamari appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. Nice & tender and the marina sauce was warm. Came out super fast! I ordered the Badischer and it was great! Nice and tender veal with spaetzle in butter and pickled purple cabbage. The cabbage cuts the richness of the butter and cream sauce. Great pairing! My wife ordered the Broadway but didn’t want the rye bread. The GREAT server Jancy L told her about the Off Broadway so she got that. She really enjoyed it. Jancy L was super helpful, very nice and very knowledgeable. Tried ordering sweet tea, nope, tried Busch Light, nope, tried Blue Moon, nope but Jancy L gave me 2 options like Blue Moon and I picked the one that she described perfectly. She gets our vote as server of the month!!! We will definitely be back!! Oh, 4 star for Atmosphere is just because the design allows it to be quite loud in there.

Only ate the German food, so can’t comment on other items. The jagerschnitzel was dry, tasteless, and tough. The spatzle was tough and cold. Very unsatisfying. The Bavarian schnitzel was moister and not as tough but the flavor was solely that of the barbecue sauce covering it. Would not recommend either. Tried for a good ending to the meal, so tried the apple strudel. Again disappointed. The strudel pastry was light but greasy. The apple filling was lacking, and over heated in the microwave. And they didn’t even have any ice cream available to make it à la mode. Perhaps I expected too much for a college town eatery.

Unique spot. I was totally apprehensive as soon as we noticed this restaurant was located in a strip mall but thank goodness we gave it a shot anyway. As soon as you walk through the door you are wrapped in a warm and welcoming interior with smiles to boot.
The menu is a happy step away from what you find at your usual establishment. There are many specialties and tons of options I wouldn’t mind trying! We decided to go for two of the schnitzel options. No disappointment! Everything was delish! The portions were more than generous. Wait staff—very attentive and pleasant. In fact she was sweet enough to pitch in when we were having trouble taking a selfie. More than that she showed us where to get the best shot and snapped it herself!
Would return anytime!

Still one of my favorite local places to eat out, grab a work lunch, or meet up after work for a drink. Food is consistently good and I love that you can get a good German lager.

BUT (and this is a big but), I’m so disappointed with their new menu. They got rid of many favorites, including the Cobb salad and the spicy fish tacos. And their deli menu. I don’t know what was “wrong” with the old menu, but I miss it. Enough that it had lost its place in the rotation.
Food is good, but giving 3 starts for menu change.

Food was delicious! In-house made sausage was some of the best we’ve had! Our waiter was great; very attentive. We will be back!

Olde New York is an excellent place for a meal out! They also have a full bar, tempting desserts and appetizers to please every palate! They have the best beef stew I’ve ever had at a restaurant (it’s Ghoulash on the menu). The steaks are great! Bonus for serving mashed potatoes straight up, without garlic. Salads are fresh, with lots of mixed greens. The customer service is excellent, and the atmosphere is great too. It can get a bit loud, definitely not a place to go for a subdued dining experience. If you’re in State College and trying to experience some of the local flavors, it’s a must-try!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. From the road it looks like it might just be some chain or knockoff of a chain. However, it was totally different once inside. The beer selection was much better than expected with some good German beers. The food was also delicious. May have some German dishes that are excellent. I will return.

Honest review. They really need to improve. I had the pulled pork sandwich and soup. I have enjoyed better canned soup. The sandwich was small and taste mediocre for 15 USD. Pizza places are better at half the price.
