Ordered to go (phone, in person pick up). Satay chicken quality is amazing, with rich peanut sauce. Pad see ew and pineapple fried rice also cooked very well. Portion size reasonable. Pricing is reasonable.

Eating inside is highly recommended. Loved the 60s – 70s Thai music, the exterior and interior decor, the small family feel with the workers and family, the price range, the food presentation, and most importantly, the food and drinks. The Grilled Chicken with veggies and soup were really flavorful, and they have solid Thai coffee. Want to try the lychee iced tea next time.

After living in Oakland for 5 years, I finally found my Thai spot. This place is the real deal and they offer a lot of their dishes can be made vegetarian. Panang curry, pad Thai, and drunken noodles were excellent. It’s family run and has a very cool atmosphere.

Ask for cute, sweet Penny – Best service in Oakland! Delicious noodles, curry, crispy egg roll, coconut creamy sticky rice, and Thai iced coffee – it feels like a jungle pirate ship but without the swearing – ‘Blue’ even let me play his two accordions in the waterfall lobby! Love Old Weang Ping Village – it feels like home ❤️

When I moved to East Oakland I worried I’d be in a food desert. But then I discovered Old Weang. I go at least once a month — great menu, charming restaurant interior, and friendly staff. Really lucky to have them in our area.

In Sept 2023, we went to try Weang as its close to my friend’s house. We were greeted by family who informed us Weang would be moving to Alameda but another family would be taking over this location and serving thai. We shall see on both accounts. Expect a 3 month wait to try either.
