If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Serbia, this restaurant delivers in every possible way. The menu is packed with traditional dishes and hearty comfort food, and the drink options are just as expansive — from Balkan wines to rakija that warms you from the inside out.
The dining room is surprisingly large, which makes it great for big gatherings or weekend celebrations without ever feeling cramped. Despite the spacious setup, the atmosphere still feels warm, welcoming, and distinctly Serbian.
As for the food, there were plenty of standouts, but the chicken liver deserves its own spotlight — rich, perfectly cooked, and absolutely out of this world. It’s one of those dishes that makes you immediately want to come back just to experience it again.
If you want a genuine Serbian dining experience with generous portions, great drinks, and a cozy cultural vibe, this place is an easy recommendation.

So as I write this review I feel embarrassed that it has taken me so long to visit this restaurant that has been in business for as long as I can remember. That being said, the meal at this establishment was one that I will remember for a long time. It also encourages me to return as soon as I can. Our visit began at the bar for our usual pre-dinner cocktails. My wife wanted me to make sure I mentioned the Serbian Old Fashioneds she enjoyed on our visit. She said they we were delicious. Our meal started with bread fresh out of the oven accompanied by 2 delicious homemade spreads. A creamy cheese spread and an eggplant and what seemed to be tomato spread. Both had amazing flavor and tasted great on the crusty bread. For starters we chose the Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper salad. Sprinkled with a soft cheese and topped with a light vinaigrette the salad, like the bread course was full of flavor. Our other starter was the Serbian Escargot. A generous portion of snails( like 12!!)in an incredible garlicky herbed butter. Some of the best escargot we’ve ever had. Grilled bread was served on the side and was used to sop up every last bit of the butter sauce. Both of our starters could have easily served 3 to 4 people. For entrees I chose the Raznjici/Chevapchichi combo off the Grill section of the menu. This is a combination of perfectly grilled pork tenderloin chunks and Serbian sausages both with great grill flavor well seasoned and juicy. On the side were diced raw onions, and feta cheese along with perfectly grilled medley of vegetables and some of if not theee best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Needless to say my plate was licked clean when I was done. My wife chose The Braised Spring Lamb which turned out to be a very large Lamb Shank. Fork tender and melt in your mouth. The lamb was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It was joined by red and green braised cabbage, the fore mentioned mashed potatoes, a dumpling, rice, and mixed vegetables. A very large portion indeed. Except for the the dumpling which sadly was very plain and lacking flavor the entire dish was bursting with amazing flavors. We did not try dessert although there were several options to choose from. Service was friendly, professional, and well paced. Bathrooms were small but very clean. Parking was available behind the restaurant. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Sadly my wife and I were 2 of only 13 people in the entire restaurant the whole night. This is a gem of a restaurant and more people should give them a visit when looking for some amazing ethnic food. Give them a try Milwaukee!!

Went to celebrate my mother’s birthday at the restaurant. I’ve gone for my birthday, and other birthdays and events for the last 20 or so years. There was only my party of four and a second party of four, 8 people, in the restaurant. Our server was rude just about the entire time and was bothered with us being there.
At one point my mother ordered a cocktail and our server left for about 10 minutes. Upon returning without the drink, my mother asked about it and was barked at. She yelled at my mother for asking because she was “busy coordinating something”, yet we could hear her having a lengthy conversation unrelated to work prior to returning to our table.
We ordered brie with fruit and instead of telling us they were out of that option brought us feta with olives and tomato. Didn’t want it, didn’t like it.
Every time any of us asked a question she would roll her eyes or leave with a disgusted expression on her face.
If it wasn’t my mother’s birthday I would have yelled at that lady for being so disrespectful. Unless they replace that horrible, old server I’m never going back.

My brother and I stopped in before a concert downtown, not my first visit, but the first in a few years. In fact, our father brought us here in the 70s! Absolutely top notch dining, worthy of all the stars I could give it. Please support this long-running gem of restaurant on Milwaukee’s South Side. You will not be disappointed!

We went for a family style dinner for six. We were greeted and immediately taken care of. For appetizers we were served tomato salad with feta cheese and borek. For main course we tried chicken paprikash, musakkha, skewers with stir fry veggies and mashed potatoes. Absolutely loved the paprikash and borek. The mashed potato was very smooth which I liked. The food was more than enough for 6people and tasty. Highly recommend the restaurant!

Great service and atmosphere. Husband loved his goulash. My mousaka was a little dry, not like I remembered it. Bottle of Dalmatian wine left no headache nor reflux like a lot of reds so. The sausage appetizer was great! This was on Christmas Eve, not attended heavily.

While visiting some friends in Wisconsin they took me to Old Town Serbian Gourmet knowing that I would love the place. They were not wrong! As a man of Hungarian decent, I was delighted to see that they had chicken paprikas on the menu. It did not disappoint! The chicken and flavor were phenomenal and perfectly prepared. The restaurant reminded me of evenings with my Hungarian grandparents at their social clubs. Thank you for a great meal!

Fantastic dining experience!
A quiet evening with a richly authentic menu! Our host (who I believe was an owner) could not have been more gracious, attentive and helpful; she chatted with us about many of the dishes (the ingredients, the prep, regional changes); all at our request.
We overindulged with a full appetizer (the baked feta, so delicious and flavorful); entrees: chicken paprikash and sarma (each savory and expertly prepared; the thin cabbage wrapping was of particular note!); desserts: a strawberry torte and palchenka (the torte was light, fluffy and just the right level of sweetness; the crepe was a terrific apple and nut medley). The Serbian coffee was new to me, it had a very earthy and smooth flavor, an excellent compliment to ethereal desserts!
It was a last minute dinner choice and we were thrilled with how good it was, we will certainly make our way back!
Best recommendation for a dining experience; especially if you are looking for something unique or of Eastern European fare!
