Culinary discovery in old town, Salinas fish and chips establishment in old town. This new eatery defies expectations by offering a Mexican soup that rivals dedicated Taquerias the Star attraction is their pozole burning with succulent, meat that truly elevate this dish is the impressive array of accompaniment, chili oil for heat seeker, cilantro and onions, freshness, aromatic, oregano for authenticity, zesty lemon to brighten flavors. A standup feature is their housemate corn tortillas .These can be transformed into crispy tostadas, providing a delightful textural contrast to the hardy soup. The level of customization allows diners to craft their ideal bowl, balancing flavors and texture to personal preference it’s a testament to restaurants culinary versatility, seamlessly, Mexican cuisines under one roof For those culinary adventures beyond traditional fish and chips that showcase the diverse flavors old town Salinas has to offer.
I had a few errands to run before heading home impressively the soup was still extremely warm excellent packaging.

April 2021. They’re open for dine in at limited capacity, but I ordered take out. Fish and chips were still good when I got home and ate about 20 minutes later. Not only was it good, but you also get SO MUCH for the price. Definitely buying again.

I was expecting this restaurant to have a more American atmosphere regarding its name, but the restaurant actually has more of a Mexican atmosphere than I anticipated. I was not expecting the waiter to bring us chips and salsa, which is something they only do at Mexican restaurants. The name of the restaurant kinda seems like a misnomer because of this, but not really they still serve some varieties of seafood. I ordered a 2 pc. Fish and Chips dish, and when I ate it, it was a little too crumby/crusty. The fries were definitely too crusty, but despite this, I ate most of my food because I was already hungry. The restaurant was alright in my opinion, however I would prefer going somewhere else if you initially wanted to go here for American seafood.

Awesome fish and chips. Honestly so good. It took a long time to come out, at least 25-30 minutes, for 3 meals but worth the wait. Double thumbs up for the cheladas to go

They had the most delicious Birria and homemade tortillas. Probably the best thing I ate all year. The quesabirria tacos were also very good. Al pastor burrito was ok. Only downside was since everything was made fresh it was a half hour wait for food. Freshly fried chips with the salsa was a huge plus though while waiting.

This is our “go-to” place for British style fish and chips. The food is tasty, prices are very reasonable, and the service is terrific. Now this is not a five-star Carmel restaurant with all the glitz and very high prices. This is a small friendly family run restaurant – enjoy!

We stopped by on a Saturday. They were easy to spot and there was plenty of parking in the back. There was only one customer ahead of us and the restaurant was not busy at all, much to our surprise. Although it’s been years, when this location was on E. Alisal it was always full.

We ordered menudo and a Captain’s plate.
The menudo however, had much to be desired. It was watery and even after adding all the condiments that we were brought; it lacked flavor. We were incredibly disappointed. It was not what we remembered. The Captain’s plate was very good.

If we decide to come back it will be for the fish n chips. For menudo we will look elsewhere

They should stick to making the house special, (i.e fish n chips) if they are unable to find someone that can make a good menudo.

Three stars for our server, who was very polite and attentive and for the Captain’s plate.
