Called ahead for an early Sunday dinner for 6 people. Chef Jerome greeted us with warm hugs and set the tone for a memorable, fun, and unique evening! The food was outstanding and service felt like you were home. The decor is wacky, neat, funny, and eclectic. He brought us sweet potato fries to try and, when he realized my 5 year old son loved his hush puppies, he immediately went back and made him more 🙂 left with full stomachs and take out boxes. we will definitely be back!

Not your typical restaurant by any means, definitely a ‘hole in the wall’ but upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman that welcomes you like you’re royalty. The chef makes an appearance to ensure that you are satisfied and makes a warm and heartfelt introduction. Food….. amazing!!! Everything tasted wonderful. Thousands of pictures from many years of memories on the wall. Will definitely return and visit my new family

Reading an article about wholesaler Harris Neck Oysters and Seafood I came across Old School Diner and decided to incorporate a late lunch stop on the way to Florida. Off the road, and secluded, it’s an interesting location reminiscent of some hidden treasures we have been to through the years. Chef Jerome is a very personable fellow. As for the decor, it’s a very unique interior, subject to individual opinion.

Had the pleasure of having lunch today at Chef Jerome’s Old School Diner. We have been reading about this place for a couple of years now, and it did not disappoint. Chef Jerome met us at the door with a smile and a hug, and just like the signs say he treats you like family. The food was awesome, and the atmosphere was worth the trip alone. We got to meet his baby Maxine, and he told us of his wife’s passing last year. You can tell that he misses her terribly and makes sure to point her out in a painting there in her memory. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in, you won’t be disappointed.

Mom, my sister and I took a ride down to Harris Neck today in McIntosh county. We stopped to have lunch down at the Old School diner around 11:45 while we were in the area. It’s quite a different place. Don’t be scared of the location or the look of the outside. Apparently the chef started the place in his house and has expanded over the years. Eclectic decor is a very underrated description (not a bad thing in this case). We were the only ones there, and the chef came out and greeted us as literal family and was very personable. We were told he mingles with the guests all the time, and he knows most of his customers by name. I asked him what was fresh, and he replied “I’m peeling shrimp right now”. I asked where they were from and he said he picked them up off the boat that morning in Darien (20 miles away). That settled it, we were having shrimp. My mom and I got the smaller portion of fried shrimp, and my sister ordered the grilled. They brought out a basket of hush puppies while we waited. They were huge and crunchy on the outside and sweet and cake-like inside. They were not greasy at all. Our lunch portion came with sixteen lightly coated shrimp and cole slaw. My sister ordered a side of sweet potato fries. These things were logs that were lightly battered, super sweet, and pillowy soft. The cinnamon butter for dipping was delicious. The meals are on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for, and I’d gladly pay $22 for 16 perfectly cooked shrimp, dessert worthy hush puppies, and personal attention. We were told that on Saturday nights the place gets busy, and the chef brings his parrot out to chill with the guests while he does his thing. I can’t wait to see that. On the way home my 90 year old mother said she would like to come back, and that is the only endorsement I need. Update 10June2023. A group of us went again and the chef did not disappoint. Out of everything ordered the crispy scored flounder won best of show. Big enough for 4 people

Don’t let the old pictures fool you. It looks like a dump now. Thought it would be eclectic cool place, but was wrong. Strong mold and musty smell. A large group of us went and we were all disappointed. But the waitress was great! The only part of the fried shrimp plate that was above average was the hush puppies. They are awesome!

OMG! What can I say! This little place is truly UNIQUE and a jewel. I am not going to lie, it looks a little skeptical when arriving, but we were optimistic. It’s really like a old school home. “Grandma’s country home”. Chef Jerome is so very personable. He sits down at the table with you and hug you when you arrive. He’s like oh I’m gonna cook it up. The waitress Tammy was helpful and very polite. We Ordered the “Wheelchair” for 7 people and it was so much food. The food came out HOT and FRESH! Let me tell you their hushpuppies are so damn good. And the sweet potato boats. I will be going back and I’m taking even more family members. This is a great Sunday Dinner spot. We came from Savannah GA and the ride was not bad at all.

I absolutely love Old School Diner. Chef Jerome is the best chef in the southeast coast. His food is always wonderful, flavorful, and consistent. You feel very welcomed each time you come there. It is definitely an experience to remember. He personally introduces himself and is genuine in who he is and his cooking. Definitely check out Old School Diner

I had been wanting to go for quite some time and finally made it out there tonight. It was nothing like I expected it to be. Very unique atmosphere and the food was AMAZING!! The Chef met us out front and showed us where we could park (right by the door because it was raining) Our waitress was Tammy and she was great. This place is a true gem!
