At first, I’ll admit it threw me off a little because it’s tucked into a strip mall — but listen… “don’t judge a book by its cover” has never been more accurate. Because once the food hit the table, I was officially humbled (and very happily so).
I ordered the chicken street tacos with guacamole and chips, and my son went for the shrimp tacos. Let me tell you: everything was fresh, flavorful, and seriously satisfying. Like, “why didn’t I come here sooner?” satisfying.
And it wasn’t just the food. The atmosphere was warm, the prices were super fair, and the owner personally greets you when you walk in — then continues checking in on every table like you’re a guest in his home. The staff was already great, but having the owner that involved made the whole experience feel extra special.
Bottom line: great food, great vibes, and you genuinely feel like family. If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in. Your tastebuds will thank you.
Food came out sizzling.
Good service. There were a couple of large groups in the dining room.
The food as always is excellent! We got steak rancheros, guacamole dip half portion, spinach enchiladas and chicken tortilla soup.
The Micheladas are great too! A must order if you drink alcohol.
We agreed to leave a 20% tip as the food was good and the service picked up, if not as charmingly as we expected.
The bill was presented, swiped the card, and then as we proceeded to fill out the tip portion by hand, we noticed an extra line – gratuity was added at 15% for a table of four??? And not even circled out to make us aware. It’s the first time this restaurant did that and we suspect the server did it on her own. Normally, if it’s policy to build in gratuity, the server circles that line do the customer is aware. Luckily we saw that, and left another 5% in cash, and we pointedly drew an arrow to the built in gratuity so she was aware why we left the extra dollars, or she could have assumed that was all we were going to tip, which is not the case as we make it a point to tip decently where service warrants it.
Other than this, lunch and Ol Santa Fe are great as always!!
