First time going to Old Owl Tavern. The fried chicken and steak was excellent. Nice crisp salad. There was a little mixup with our order, but the staff quickly recognized it and took care of it immediately.

We really wanted to like this place. We’re new to town and finally had a chance to try it. Cool place, nice bourbon selection. We ordered the ribeyes a couple drinks and pour of bourbon. The drinks were ok. The ribeyes were not good. I hate it because I wanted to love it. Tough, chewy and flavorless. The bourbon was good. I guess if you wanna nice bar with a decent bourbon , it’s good. The ribeyes are not good. The waitress was nice and refunded one of our meals, so that’s good.

We stayed at a VRBO and went to this place for dinner 4/5 nights we were here. The food, service, and atmosphere is fantastic. Decent prices on pours of bourbon as well! We will return if ever in the area again.

The waitress was very nice.
Update
The original review was written while still at the table. After the waitress declared that the dry crumbs on my plate were because the Country Ham was just that tender and moist so they were not able to cut an actual slice. And that is just how country ham is. lol. Really. Has she ever actually eaten country ham?
I dropped the service part of the score a couple stars because this is simple a bunch of bull.
******
But for $27 for the Classic Meal with a Half chicken what I would not have expected…
A wilted salad with a rotten cucumber.
And the ham in the photo was the full serving of the ham part of this meal.
Honestly!?!?

Fantastic food. Fish and chips was the best I’ve ever had, banana pepper tartar sauce was amazing, fries were perfect. Bread pudding with bourbon caramel sauce was also fantastic

A little confusing because there is an Old Owl Tavern and an Owl’s Nest Pub, they are two different rooms in the same restaurant. Prefer the Owl’s Nest as it quieter and more comfortable. Everything was excellent. We had the old owl cocktail. Entrees were Kentucky Hot Brown and fried chicken. Sides were corn pudding (to die for), green beans and salad with house made Bleu cheese dressing.Tori, our waitress, was sweet as sugar and very helpful. The bartender, Dan, is a wizard.

They sat us by the door so every time someone came in we got blasted by 15degree cold air. There were of other tables open, and no they weren’t reserved because others were seated there without giving a name. Not sure why the hostesses would not leave that table until the very last, but for some reason we were chosen to suffer there for our meal.
Ordered the country fried steak and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Clearly some junk from Sysco that was mostly breading. Cracker Barrel is a step up from the food here.

We are so excited to try out this establishment as we had heard such great things. When we arrived, we were met by someone who is not very nice or kind at all. We ordered the happy hour chips, and there was only like 10 of them and the bartender was not accommodating at all. We ended up leaving and going to another establishment to eat because of the rude behavior by the bartender.

This is a wonderful restaurant in Harrodsburg, honestly it’s the best in Harrodsburg. The chef makes southern down home food but we’re not talking a pile of grandma’s food (though there’s a time and place for that too!) but rather a real discerning meal. We had the grilled salmon and blackened chicken Alfredo. The salmon was cooked properly and had good flavor without overpowering spices. The Alfredo had an excellent consistency without excess oil. The chicken was very tasty. My favorite part was the surprise homemade caramel sauce on the ice cream though- delectable. We had an excellent meal on the patio around other good company in the small but comfortable space. Enjoy!

Food was extremely underwhelming. We ordered two burgers to go with no bun because we wanted to use our own bread.
We got two overcooked, charred hunks of meat that were nowhere NEAR the half pound advertised. And apparently no bun translates to no toppings as well. No dressing on the side, none of the advertised toppings, tomato, onion, lettuce, pickle spear. Also no seasoning apparently. Not even a lick of salt to be tasted. Even a burger king burger with no bun comes fully dressed for much less.
The lettuce in the side salad was also old and wilted.
Just bland, overcooked patties of a quarter pound of beef, at most.
Literally would’ve been better off getting the frozen turkey burgers at Kroger, they’re seasoned and bigger/juicier.
Thats a lot of crap for an almost 17 dollar burger. Won’t be returning.
