When I think of “Philly Food”, Nick’s Roast Beef is one of the first things that springs to mind. It’s a delicious signature sandwich that’s served soaked in gravy, which seems to disappear as soon as it hits the table. Good thing the service is fast.
They also have a Broccoli Rabe Sandwich, which is very good.

Best roast beef, turkey, pork and ham sandwiches. Great bar/restaurant that has stood the test of time. It’s my home away from home!

I felt compelled to write this review because of the terrible service my husband received at this restaurant. I needed a chiropractic adjustment across the street so my husband decided to meet me on his break at work so that after my adjustment we could get lunch. We always wanted to try Nicks Roast Beef so we parked there in the lot and went across the street to get my adjustment and then to come back to Nicks to get lunch afterwards. As we were walking across the street to my adjustment a woman with a blonde pony tail ran outside and yelled at us that the parking was only for people eating at Nicks. We said we understand and will be right back after the adjustment as we were gonna get lunch afterwards. She basically gave us attitude, gave some sort of hand gesture and went inside. We went inside the chiropractor and I told my husband you should probably just go over and get the food to go so they don’t get upset because they probably don’t believe we were actually planning to eat there. (We were!!) this was based on the attitude of the woman who yelled at us outside.
So my husband goes in and the bartender asked him if he wanted take out. He said yes and the woman took his order. As he was waiting for the order the waitress and the bartender were passively aggressive and indirectly talking about how take out is not really an option and it’s more of a dine in facility. They were speaking to eachother in a way that my husband could over hear on purpose without directly talking to him about it. They also said that people shouldn’t be taking advantage of the parking because there is such limited space out front.
First of all, I don’t think it should matter whether or not we dine in or take out. It’s even ironic that one of the questions this review asks me is if I got dine in, take out, or delivery. The fact that they did this so my husband could hear was extremely disrespectful and rude and so passive aggressive. Second we parked there because we were coming right over after the adjustment to spend money at the restaurant to eat. The unprofessionalism of the people who worked there was extremely disrespectful and I really think they need to be spoken to, especially about the issue of it not being a take out place. I’m sure lots of people take out there. That was extremely rude. I believe the waitress was pissed off that we weren’t eating there because she wouldn’t get a tip since we were taking out. Extremely rude and unprofessional and not welcoming at all. Our experience there was extremely terrible and we will never be returning and will also be sure to let others know about our experience.

We tried to get Arby’s early in the day and it was dripping in hot sauce. I was not asked & did not order hot sauce. I can not tolerate it. It takes my breath away. My Son took me to PA to the Original Nick’s Roast Beef. It was so delicious. I could only eat 1/2 until later when I got hone and finished every bite. His wife took me a few years ago to a different Nicks. I still remember the great taste & quality. We had 1 server for the whole dining room. I felt like helping her & maybe teaching her a system. She forgot orders & when brought orders she forgot who got which dinner & drink. Maybe with practice she will improve.

Service is lacking depending on the bar tender you get. Great food though. My experience today was that I waited quite awhile before I ordered. When I did order, I had to ask for my drinks, I guess she forgot. Ordered a regular coke, got a diet. Never got my onion rings. She said I didn’t order them. Even if I didn’t you don’t say that to the customer, maybe something like “I’m sorry I just have missed thst” would be better. It was a small simple order. So I just left my food and drinks and $40 to cover the bill. Best to visit the Bar when Jeff is around. I think I’m an overly nice person, so I just don’t get it.

My absolute favorite roast beef ever! Extra cheese with a side of au jus, horseradish and peppers and I’m set! Victoria hands down makes the experience that much better when you go! Can’t wait to go back!

Awesome food and hard working staff. We were there on a busy night and they had only 1 server and and incompetent bartender for the entire restaurant and bar. Our beers were never empty and our food arrived hot right when it should have. She held the place down and earned a substantial tip! My favorite roast beef spot when I’m in town!

My family had a wonderful meal at Nick’s roast beef! The sandwich its self had lots of flavor and gravy. This is definitely a messy meal, be warned. On the table there is horseradish and peppers to doctor the sandwich to your liking. If you’re going to this restaurant, there is a limited menu with just a couple items on it. Their fries were a little bit on the small side and are not included in the combo. They did have Birch beer which was a nice surprise! Definitely would come back for another sandwich!

Nick’s is small, loud, with it’s regulars seated around the center bar, sports on every television but they serve the best roast beef sandwich you can get outside of Philly. Consistently delicious. Excellent customer service. A local favorite. Parking can be tricky but it is worth it.

28 years in Delco, and today was the first time eating at Old Original Nick’s Roast Beef – Springfield, PA. My wife and I took the R101 Trolley from Media to the Woodland Ave, station for lunch today. I had a Roast Beef Combo (wet) and a side of gravy fries. My wife had a Roast Pork (wet). The food was excellent. Our waitress was phenomenal and the resaturant was exceptionally clean, bright and nicely decorated. I really enjoyed my meal and my wife said she did also. My only gripe was that there was not nearly as much roast beef as is shown in most of the photos I’ve seen on here or on Facebook. I was expecting a pile of R.B. We will definitely go back.
