Wow, what a hidden gem. New place definitely worth checking out. Huge dining area over a waterfall. Wood stove! Lots of yummy stuff on the menu and reasonable prices. Beautiful spot for a cup of coffee or lunch.

Easiest 5-star review I have ever given. If there were a way to give an even better rating, I would. My friend and I (19 y/o UMass Students) were looking for a good breakfast after an early wake-up and Marsha and Shannon delivered. The place is beautiful inside and out, “The Water Wheel” was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have EVER had, and what really makes this place 5 star is the people. We were greeted with a warm smile, and although it was our first time in the building, everyone treated us like family. While Shannon worked her magic preparing our breakfast, Marsha could not have been nicer and went above and beyond for everything we could have needed. She even brought us samples of their freshly baked Blueberry Crumble and Homemade Apple Cider; On the house! The true definition of a “Hidden Gem”; I cannot wait to go back.

Such a sweet cafe! The ladies at the counter were very friendly, the mocha latte I ordered was sublime, and the outdoor area was so pretty!

Great staff, good coffee, cute place. Probably the best breakfast sandwich in town.
10.34+tip for a large coffee and bacon, egg, and cheese on an Asiago bagel.

This place was listed as the best sandwhich in town and it speaks truth. The best biscuit I’ve ever had in my life. They have an iced oat milk shaken espresso and Starbucks wish they did it this good. The inn is beautiful and quaint. We ate overlooking the old mill waterfall. Highly suggest going here if you have the time.

I had breakfast there with a friend and then purchased some of Shannon’s scones to bring to a brunch. Everyone was raving about their deliciousness and moistness! They all asked where I got them so I hope they find their way to your cafe and experience it in person-and also buy some scones and pastries to take home to share. Thanks so much to everyone at the Mill River Cafe!

So glad we found this place….a true sanctuary after a long day of driving and visiting colleges. Easy check-in, comfy beds, great bathrooms (and shower!), and lovely, friendly staff. If our kid gets into Amherst this will be our base in the future (though the owners are also looking to expand into Amherst…so stay tuned). Definitely 100% recommend.

Absolutely love all that is the Old Mill Cafe and Bar! Growing up in Hatfield, we used to always have to go in to Hamp to get that coffee shop vibe. It’s so wonderful being able to drive down the street, say hey to Marsha, Deb & Shannon, and indulge in the breakfast biscuit sandwich. Great place to pull out my computer and work, enjoy a little pampering, but still have the Hatfield small town charm.

Excellent sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch! Their takeout system runs smoothly and the food is a special treat. They also have lovely spots to eat indoors and out on their porch. The staff are all so friendly!
