Old Man Rivers Table & Tavern serves elevated, local Southern cuisine for lunch and dinner and offers a full-service bar with local beer, wine, spirits and creative cocktails. Located at the foot of Signal Mountain, we are a small, locally owned eco-conscious neighborhood tavern.

Five stars without hesitation.
From the moment we arrived at Old Man River’s, the tone was set. Lena greeted us on the patio while we waited for a table and delivered genuine hospitality right out of the gate. The wait was reasonable, and the welcome made it feel even shorter.
Once seated, Allison took over and was exceptional. Attentive, efficient, and clearly knowledgeable about the menu.
We ordered the pork chop, crab cakes, shrimp, and the snickerdoodle dessert. The crab cakes were easily some of the best we’ve ever had. Every dish was executed at a high level.
The environment, the service, and the overall experience were top tier. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Chattanooga. We’ll absolutely be back.

Fresh, flavorful, affordable food. An absolute gem in chattanooga, and one of the best lunch experiences I have had. The wedge was not very traditional but regardless i loved the twist and was very tastey. Then for my entree, catfish plate with sweet mashed potatoes and asparagus for $9.95!! Are you kidding? Would recommend to anyone remotely close to the area, a NECESSARY stop in chattanooga.

What a cute and lovely place! I was so excited to finally give this place a try! Everyone that works there is super friendly and it definitely has a neighborhood hangout vibe. The night I went I think the kitchen was a wee bit overhanded with the salt. The food was so salty I could barely taste anything else and even left my mouth feeling like I had just drank a glass of salt water! I don’t consider myself sensitive to salt or anything but I’ll likely return at a later time to see if that was just a fluke or not. Otherwise, it was a very nice meal!

So many people have asked if I’ve been to Old Man River and raved about it—finally, I did, and it did not disappoint! Their dinner menu changes weekly, and they also offer daily lunch and drink specials. I grabbed a lunch special to go for the next day and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions—I even shared it with my son.
Everything we tried was amazing: wedge salads, blackened catfish Po’boy, and the meatloaf special of the day—divine! Drinks were equally impressive, from Bloody Marys to martinis, beer, and a coffee concoction that got rave reviews.
So glad I finally discovered this spot—I’ll definitely be back!
Best staff and ambiance, too!

First time we’ve ever been there. If you have the money… I 100% recommend that you visit this cozy little restaurant!! Seating is limited and so is parking space and it’s absolutely perfect!! If you are lucky enough to even get through the door because it’s so packed then you are in for a complete experience!! The food is amazing! Your food service individuals are amazing!! The owner himself was there and he did an absolutely wonderful job of taking care of his people!! The food menu changes every week. There’s no freezer that they keep their food in. They don’t use a microwave. Beyond those people in the kitchen cooking your food, The bartenders know what they’re doing as well! Listen… I never, and I mean never give any place a completely amazing review. Go there. That’s all I can say is go there!! Happiness is waiting for you!!

Feels like you’re at someone’s home. It’s so cozy and detail-oriented. The food was impeccable – I worked all day and came here, and I ate almost everything! The menu changes weekly, so everything is fresh and local. A gem of Chattanooga. Every menu is labeled by the week, and this is week 140.
Picture 1 & 2: Baked lamb & brie (kind of like a wellington, soooo good, we ate every bite)
Picture 3 & 4: Short rib with Bordelaise. So tender. The pesto risotto was amazing.
Picture 5: Redfish. So tender and flaky with the perfect blackened skin!

Such an awesome restaurant. It’s a small place but that only it adds to the charm. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have a great selection of beers and the service is top notch. There is plenty of parking in the back. There is typically a short wait to get a table but it is well worth it.

A small restaurant with big flavors. Mr. Rivers is the most generous and kind owner. Both dinner and brunch services were amazing. For drinks, the hundred acre wood (pictured) was fantastic, as well as the drunken garden. The wedge salad is to die for. As for entrees and appetizers, they change every week so its hard to recommend specifics, but the short rib and beef tartare were delicious. If you’re in Chattanooga, you need to come here.

Three words: worth the wait! No matter what day it is, you’re probably going to have to wait a bit for a table. Throw your name on the waiting list, grab a drink menu, and enjoy some conversation with your guests on the patio while you wait. Staff will come out to take your drink orders and there are seats you can take while waiting, as well. Once you’re seated, it’s such a pleasure. We were waited on by the owner of the place and he was absolutely fantastic. He wanted to make sure we got to try any and everything we wanted. He also told us of how the menu changes every week. It was so cool to hear about their process and even more delightful to taste the food. It was DELICIOUS. The setting is warm and vibrant, full of chatter and laughter. I highly recommend!
