A mix of what you’d get with a Western Saloon design with a distinctly Asian flair on the outside.
Food here was ok, Sichuan-ish style but on the sweet side. Lunch specials come with a soda. We ended up having enough people to order from the main menu.
Hot & sour soup was really sweet and not sour, and they had a nice trio of homemade pickles/kimchi which was probably the best part. Coriander beef was good, though, as a cold dish / appetizer. Well-seasoned and good portion.
Chicken chow mein was ok, though noodles were overcooked in oil and falling apart (tough to eat with the chopsticks). They need to do the noodle even less al dente if sautéing with the sauce/chicken after.
Griddle cauliflower w/ pork was on the sweet side instead of spicy. Scallion fish also on the sweet side and not spicy (even though marked as such).
Rice came in a fun bamboo container, like an old water or carry container.
Overall service was good, not too omnipresent, and they were able to accommodate our table of 5 easily at lunch.

Had the Peking duck. It was really good and they were kind enough to demonstrate the proper way to eat it. I enjoyed the various pickled vegetables too. Food seems to be more on the side of authentic Chinese than “westernized Chinese food”. If you are into authentic Chinese cuisine and friendly staff, then this is the place for you. Highly recommend.

Great service and atmosphere, place is clean. The counter lady won’t treat you as a valued customer, she needs a bit more of customer service skills but it’s alright. The food is good, I ordered the grilled beef brisket with radish lunch plate. Not much meat which was disappointing if you go by the menu photos, it was ok, had nothing of grilled but it was boiled instead, but still had a decent flavor. The meat pieces had a lot of gristle, which is not edible at all. They’ll give you white rice which is ok and tasty along with cabbage. If you want Chinese fried rice you’ll need to order separately which we did and it was good, but way very very oily. We also tried the spring rolls, they were ok, and the steamed dumplings were ok as well. Overall it was a decent meal and the waiter was very attentive. Will I return? Maybe, not sure.

Old Liz’s Charleston delivers an incredibly authentic Chinese dining experience. The flavors are bold and traditional, making every bite feel like a trip to China. The dishes are expertly prepared, with fresh ingredients and rich seasoning that showcase the depth of real Chinese cuisine. From the dumplings to the stir-fried dishes, everything tasted just right—balanced, flavorful, and satisfying.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff is friendly and attentive, though service can be a bit slow during peak hours, which is the only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five. However, the food more than makes up for it. If you’re looking for a true taste of China in Charleston, this place is a must-visit!

Everything was amazing and fresh! The service was great and friendly and the cuisine was beyond compare. My family enjoyed our dinner and we will definitely be back with friends. My children enjoyed the family style dining and I wish more restaurants did this! With a large family the spinning table worked wonders! You must try the duck! My 5 year old is a dumpling fanatic and he could not stop talking about the dumplings!

This place is legit. It might be $20 for sweet and sour chicken but it’s enough to feed two maybe even three people. It’s not some greasy spoon place, the restaurant is very clean and organized. The food is absolutely delicious and it’s apparent that a great deal of care goes into the preparation all the way to the plating of the dish. Even the take out orders are uniquely packaged. You would be hard pressed to find any other restaurant in Charleston where you would get a generously sized portion of affordable, quality food like this. It goes without saying, this is only accomplished with an outstanding staff and a staff will only be outstanding if they have genuine leadership. Quality breeds quality. Reeeeeeeespecting Old Li’s culture

Visited for lunch with two others. Quick service, good food, and friendly staff.
We were served three small bowls of pickled appetizers:radishes, cucumbers and, spicy cabbage. There were delicious! Our server brought us three more when we had gobbled them up and told him how good they were.
I was impressed with the menu, too. Lots of unusual items, as well as more mainstream meals. The seafood soup was very good!
