Don’t let the fact that this place is with a gas station/convenience store fool you. It just makes it a convenient way to get good home cooking fast. We had the beef stew (5stars), a side order of cabbage (10 stars if possible) and the cheeseburger/fries special which was made fresh and excellent as a burger can be.

WHEW, CHILD! DO NOT MISS THIS!!! If you are on the road, in town, or headed home and you are hungry, stop at the Lion Mart Old Country Cooking Cafe and visit Crazy Larry, Henry, Jessie, and Scott for some hot, fresh, southern food. The plate was enough for 2 people if you are willing to share. I had fried catfish, fried okra, cheesy broccoli rice casserole, cornbread, and blackberry cobbler. You will not be disappointed!

We got two plates for $8.49 each. In addition to the pictured catfish, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese, we also had popcorn chicken, fried okra, cheese pizza, and peach cobbler. We were rushed due to having toddlers with us, so I didn’t catch his name, but the cook was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was delicious. Would definitely order again.

SALTY to the point had to throw it away. The mashed potatoes were horrible salty. Meat and two vegetables was $11 which is not to bad if it was edible. Got there at 11:30 for lunch and all the fried stuff was not fresh already dried out .

I have been to many gas stations with decent food, but I have to say that this is the best by far. I’m a soul food kinda girl and they are on the money. You have to get the catfish with Mac and cheese. Staff is very kind and gives generous portions. Definitely enough for two meals or to share with someone else.

I came on a Saturday and ordered fried fish and cabbage. The cabbage was mushy and the fish smelled as though it was cooked in old oil. It also had an ammonia smell to it. I had to throw my meal away due to the fear of getting food poisoning. I believe the food had been sat out for too long as well. Also, their prices are either too high or I got ripped off. Once I was at the register, my total was $10 for two pieces of fish, a side of cabbage, and a roll. In my opinion, the portions are VERY small for that price. All in all, I don’t see how so many people rave about this place. I only visited because of the reviews but this will be my first and last time eating there. Oh and the customer service was almost non-existent.

The pot roast was not country cooking. It was from a can and so were the sides. The mashed potato’s were instant. I understand serving this to make a cheap meal but it is by no means cooked. It is just warmed up from packaging.

I had the catfish, beans and cabbage. My husband had chicken tenders, fried okra and tater wedges. Good portions and flavored just right. Will definitely try them again.
