Had been years since I’d had an opportunity to eat here again. Last visit was Spring of 2002. I ordered the lunch special which was a chicken fried steak with two sides and a slice of Texas Toast. Our waitresses were very attentive and all in all it was a great food experience and I will be coming more often as it had been far too long since I’d eaten at the restaurant.

In regards to the CFS quality it was very good although just a tad bit under seasoned. I’d recommend seasoning the meat directly with season salt then battering the steak. Gravy was nice and peppery. Hand cut fries which separate anything that the competition has to offer. The corn and Texas toast were buttery and delicious along with an ice cold Coca-Cola to wash it down. All in all a great experience and my wife and I enjoyed our meal. I asked about desert options although sadly there were none available. I think a nice slice of apple pie or pecan pie would be great offerings. Hopefully management will consider offering this in the future.

Very good steak sirloin, around $16 with a coke ($3), salad, fries + TIPS, so final around $19 per person. They have special dish every day of the week.

Homemade French fries but a little bit overcooked… almost a perfect lunch … all the waitresses speak Spanish. I took photos of the menu and upload them…

The chicken fried steak was delicious, and as you can see in the picture, it was a pretty good serving. It was very crispy and tender, as real chicken fried steak should be. The fries are homemade and delicious and worth trying. The only downside to this place is customer service, they’re decent, not bad, just a tad bit slow. I would definitely come back and try their much talked about steaks!

Huge portions, home cooking. Very fair prices. A live cattle auction takes place in the back of the building every Sat. so be prepared for a busy place.

I honestly never really leave negative reviews but man this place was something else. First and last time going, I’ll never recommend this place to anyone. Walked in, nobody greeted us, staff made faces, food sucked, rude waitress.

You would think for a place that the piercing directly deal with cattle would have some of the best steak ever, but no. I’m pretty sure the chef forgot that salt is an option.

I ordered 2 takeout meals from their lunch specials. When I got there to pick up the restaurant was pretty packed and the atmosphere was great and The workers were very friendly. The food smelled great as I was heading home. When I took a bite I felt extremely disappointed. The country fried steak has no flavor/seasoning on both the crust or the steak. The mashed potatoes tasted like the powdered ones you got as a kid at school lunch. The corn tasted like it was just taken out of a can. French fries were really greasy and had no salt. I will never go back and order from here again. It is a shame as the place feels very inviting, but their food is the worst I have tried in the RGV. I am only rating based on the food.

Craziest thing me and another person went to meet up with a group a waitress came and asked what we wanted to drink, brought our drinks to us and never came back with menus or to get our order. We were there for about 20 minutes to a half an hour The rest of the group already ate and we’re ready to go so we never bothered and they weren’t busy. Crazy
