I’m in Rochester for a meeting and was looking for vegan food. I am so glad I found Old Abe. The place is cool, and the service was great. I absolutely inhaled my ham and cheese bagel. So good! I have the salmon one in the hotel fridge waiting for me for breakfast. If I’m ever back in town, this is the first place I’ll stop. What a pleasant surprise to see that Minnesotans seem to have a lot of vegan places (not just options) where vegans can eat without worrying about animal bits and grease in the food. This place is walking distance from a nice quiet neighborhood we’re staying in. Very interesting decor and cozy with a quieter upstairs sitting area. I got the Korean BBQ Bowl and my husband got the Bahn Mi handheld but he didn’t realize there would be so much cucumber in it which he doesn’t eat. We will have to go back and try other things including maybe a donut.

Did not realize this place is vegan, but nevertheless I really enjoyed the tropical hibiscus donut, everything bagel and coffee!
The vegan cream cheese and chips were quite good with the bagel, nice to get a little breakfast box to go.
The only problem was that the decaf tasted very off like it was poured from a rusted pitcher or something. Very strange

Visited for lunch with my son on Nov 10, before our appointment at Mayo. This unique spot in Rochester stands out with its all-vegan food selection – a rare find in the area. We tried the BLT and Banh MI, along with a vegan doughnut for my son, who loved it without even realizing it was vegan!
The staff at Abe Coffee Shop were friendly and efficient, ensuring our food arrived quickly. The restaurant, a charmingly converted house, exudes warmth and coziness, although it’s a bit small and can get loud inside. Luckily, there’s outdoor seating available during warmer months.
Expect to pay around $15 per meal, but it’s entirely worth it for the quality and uniqueness of the offerings. There’s no other place in Rochester that matches its delightful all-vegan menu. I was 1/2 way through my salmon bowl before I realized this was a vegan cafe. Stumbled into this spot and ordered some lunch. It’s beyond delicious. That’s maybe the best salmon bowl I’ve had, and I guess it doesn’t even have fish in it? Incredible. Vibe are proper. This joint is out of place in Rochester. 10/10 recommend. This feels straight out of like Waikiki or a Ski town. This is one of very few places I’ve been to in Rochester that actually has an identity. Refreshing.

Great place to grab a bite to eat! Lots of great veggie options (vegan and vegetarian). The place is a little small- seating for about 20 max, but it is a cute atmosphere and usually is busy. Parking is a bit challenging if it’s busy, but lots of street parking usually available. Go check them out!

4.5 Stars – we walked down to grab a cup of coffee and a quick snack to start our day. The coffee was fine it gave us a little pick me up to start. We ordered two donuts, because who is going to pass up vegan donuts. Service was efficient, if dull, but she got the job done. I always look for cappuccinos, but there wasn’t one. A good amount of options and alternative milk for dietary or allergy issues.
