We walked to Olamendi’s last night from our Hilton hotel on Hwy 1 and enjoyed a nice dinner! Margaritas, carnitas and fajitas. It’s was good! We ended up going again tonight and had camarones and hubby had a birria burrito. He said he liked his. Mine had a LOT of flavor and a little spice too- it was very good! The guacamole and salsa were excellent

If you are craving Mexican cuisine, you definitely should try Olamendi’s Inc.
This is the best Mexican food I have had lately and is very authentic.
It is about 1.6 miles away from Dana Point Harbor.
We come to Dana Point to visit my sister-in-law sometimes. She recommended this amazing Mexican restaurant.
Everything we had was delicious. I particularly liked the shrimp enchilada the best. We tried their super sweet flan dessert as well.
It is an egg custard with caramel sauce. It is pretty similar to cream brûlée. My husband is a die-hard fan of cream brûlée so he was very delighted with it.
Overall, there is great food with excellent service at a very reasonable price. The ambience is very Mexican and has traditional Mexican themes.
For your information, the complimentary chip dipping sauce is very spicy so be careful. Especially for someone with a low spice tolerance.

Service was great, location is great, inside seating is nice. Food? Meh! Not sure what the hype is. Our fajita burrito with fish was not good. Complimentary Chips and salsa are great in general but salsa here was not appealing super spicy. Flan was one of the best i have ever tasted probably will not dine again.

We had an amazing experience at Olamendi’s! I ordered the Camarones el Diabla and, of course, a margarita, and everything was fantastic. The shrimp had the perfect balance of heat and flavor—spicy, rich, and absolutely delicious. The margarita was refreshing, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was warm and welcoming. It’s also within walking distance of Doheny Campground, which makes it super convenient. My husband and I always eat at Olamendi’s when we are camping at Doheny, and it never disappoints.

It’s okay, but not more. The food is nothing special. I didn’t like the shrimp cocktail. Very watery and sweet. Too pricy for what I got. Less then 5 shrimps in number and didn’t taste fresh.
The value for money used to be good. These times are over.

HOT food, so good!! I ordered the taquito combination plate with rice and beans. It came out on a hot plate, everything looked amazing. The beans had broiled cheese on top, oh so hot and delicious. Their rice was fluffy and delicious as well. Hubby had a carnitas burrito, it was stuffed with meat! Great prices, great food, lots of stuff to look at and great service! We’ll be back.

For stating the the restaurant is world famous, is a bold statement. The food is tasty, though I’ve been to little hole in the wall places that had more flavor and authenticity. Service was okay, the most disappointing of our experience is that we had reserved the room in the back for our party of 11 a year in advance and then we were told when we arrived that they don’t use the back room anymore even though it was set up. I do have to say that the decor is very interesting and pretty clean from collecting dust.

Food and ambiance are excellent! They have amazing mole options. But, over the years the prices have skyrocketed and charging an extra $3 to add rice and beans to a Mexican plate should be criminal. It’s also gotten more touristy. Knocking off one star. But the service us still great, and the food very good so…. i guess maybe we just come less often?

We stopped by after dinner for margarita drinks and a Flan dessert. I tried the house jumbo and my wife the jumbo mescal. It was busy but the service was great. Enjoyed the art and nostalgia decorating. We loved the scratch margaritas especially the smoky finish on the mescal. The Flan was the perfect not so sweet dessert.

This was a great place. We have driven by a lot over the years and finally decided to try it out. Why has it taken us so long this place was great!! The staff made us feel like family. The food, made on-site, was delicious. My girls had fun looking at all the different decor, and one even said if she had had the money, she would buy some of the artwork they had there. It was beautiful.
