The best way to describe this place is “Cozy”! The friendly and efficient service and interior design gave a feel and atmosphere of having a warm invitation to a kind friend’s home. The food and drinks from the bar were very well priced and more than exceeded the expectations at these price points. Food was fresh and home style, it was better than other “sit down restaurants”. I had a hearty bacon cheeseburger with home cut fries, next time I’ll try the Chilean sea bass. They have good selections on their bar menu with bar stool seating, their dining areas were spacious and felt I was sitting in a long dinner table at home. It felt like an old town bar you get out of the cold to sit down in, it wasn’t rowdy, and it’s also a great place to take the whole family. Overall great across the board and I will definitely be coming back.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly restaurant that’s perfect for both small and large groups, Ol’ Railroad Café in Rosenberg is an absolute gem! Nestled in the heart of Old Town Square, it offers a cozy atmosphere with a charming vintage vibe.

Greg, our server, stood out with his handlebar mustache and fantastic service. He ensured our experience was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish.

The menu is filled with comfort food classics that are sure to please. We tried the Hobo Burger and 819 Burger, both of which were delicious and cooked to perfection. The kids’ menu was also a hit, offering options like mac and cheese, chicken tenders, and cheeseburgers that our little ones loved. For those with a taste for something hearty, the lamb with brown gravy was flavorful and comforting.

Ol’ Railroad Café truly captures the charm of Rosenberg with its old-town square feel, making it an ideal spot for gatherings or a casual family meal. Highly recommend stopping by for great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere!

Really good food and great service from our waitress. Everyone had something different and enjoyed all the dishes. It did help we went on a less busy day so can’t attest how service might be on a weekend. Would recommend.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Galveston. The food and service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the building. The restaurant was busy for lunch but they have plenty of seating. We had the shrimp and grits and the Reuben Sandwich. Both meals were delicious and cooked to perfection.

Overall, we enjoyed our stop over for lunch.

Housed inside an old building in downtown Richmond that’s been owned by the same family for over 100 years, Ol’ Railroad Cafe certainly has a ton of stories between these walls. Wonderful small town cafe with friendly staff, a unique menu and a historic setting. What else could anyone ask for when looking for an authentic diner? Would recommend. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Loved the historical ambiance and staff but one star off due to the Chilean Sea Bass $30+ that was way too salty and Cod-like dry not bouncy that I’m not convinced it wasn’t cod. Beautiful plating and loved the risotto. The second star off was for the fruit flies and gnats I had to dine with. Husband had the meatloaf and said it was good.

The shrimp and grits were perfect… these are perfect respectable Southern grits not from a box the real deal cooked perfectly… accompanied by shrimp, corn bacon, green onions and sausage…along with cheddar…awesome!
The Not So Benedict was fantastic! Poached eggs on top of crab cakes covered with hollandaise sauce.. served with a nice side of Texas toast along with fire roasted potatoes…. absolutely the best crab cakes I have ever had… we will definitely return
I am posting an update. February 21, 2025. Still a great place to eat. The chicken pot pie is phenomenal and a must have. The fish is flawless
A great place to eat before a show at cast theatrical…

Nice hidden gem in Rosenberg! One of the best burgers I’ve had! I had the old hobo burger, and while it looked large, it was good enough for me to eat it whole and not feel unsettled afterwards! I wasn’t particularly fond of the fries; overly salty but if you like rustic fries like this then you’ll probably enjoy! Wife enjoyed her blackened chicken BLT quite a bit. Service was kind of minor here — not many employees so it takes some hand waving to get some attention but otherwise a fine experience. I would revisit asap!

This restaurant is amazing! Not only is it absolutely adorable, but it’s incredibly affordable. My family of 7 + 1 (8 total) were able to eat (with tip) for right under $100. That’s pretty much unheard of for us. Most meals cost us closer to $200.

This restaurant is located in the quaint little town of Rosenberg. Right in the heart of the downtown area. It’s so cute. There are tons of shopping options nearby. Street parking is available.

You’ll want to get here early for seating. This place gets really busy on the weekends. This is a brunch spot— with brunch hours— so keep that in mind when planning to try them out. The food is amazing! We all ordered different stuff and everyone ate all their food. If you have kids, then you know this alone is high praise! Haha!
