We had an incredible dinner at Oku’s! Everything tasted so fresh and well made. We orders the chef’s choice 6 piece nigiri platter, the Kihei roll (California roll with sprouts on top), a spicy hamachi roll, tako nigiri, and a rainbow roll. Our faves were the hamachi nigiri and spicy roll but everything was great. It was also interesting to watch the chef making it all right there. It was quiet when we arrived, only 2 of the 7 seats taken. With the quality and location, this place should be packed every night. BYOB as well, though there is a liquor store right beside Oku’s.

We’ve been here twice now and have loved both the service and the food each time. On our first visit, an elderly couple took care of us, and the experience genuinely made us feel like we were back in Japan–warm, attentive, and authentic.
We ordered the assorted sushi special, and it did not disappoint. The quality and freshness of the fish really stood out in every bite. It’s also BYOB, which is a huge bonus.
This little hole-in-the-wall is truly a gem in Maui, especially since it’s hard to find authentic, high-quality sushi in the resort areas. If you’re craving great sushi, this spot is absolutely worth a stop.

Edit: came back the next day and everything was even better this time. Try the sweet onion and mushroom gravy. Dellicious food made with great care. So happy to have finally found this spot, will definitely be my new Kihei go-to. We’ve tries the shrimp dynamite, hurricane chicken, chicken donburi and unagi maki roll. All excellent, this is becoming our favorite lunch spot on the entire island

Wow sushi quality is amazing. Ordered salmon, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, and unagi and all were fresh and delicious. Shrimp tempura roll was good too. Will return.

A hidden gem of a sushi place in Kihei. You might not know it from the location or outside view, but you are stepping into culinary sushi history. Very friendly staff, feels family owned and operated, serving some of the freshest fish I have tried. Simple and to the point menu, but everything is so careful and well prepared that the result is very rewarding to the palate and easy on the wallet.

Absolutely delicious and excellent meal. The Hotate Nigiri melts in your mouth. All ingredients were so fresh and exquisite! The Maguro Tataki sashimi was also very flavorful and had a perfect sear. We also got the Spider Roll and the Kihei Roll — both were perfectly crafted and delicious. Presentation and service were excellent. Definitely coming back again!

Sushi rolls were excellent. Loved the shrimp tempura roll! Pork katsu was dry but the complementary miso soup made up for it. Quiet and no frills restaurant, but attentive and kind service.
