Review for OKO – The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi

Had dinner at OKO in The Lalit Hotel and the food was absolutely delicious — the duck pancakes, stir-fried sole with pak choy, and mixed vegetables were all excellent in flavor and presentation.

However, everything was served at the same time, which meant that by the time we got to each dish, most of it had gone cold. Such beautifully prepared food deserves better timing and service coordination.

Overall — great taste, poor serving sequence. Would have been an outstanding experience if the dishes had been served one after the other, as intended.

We had just arrived in Delhi from London and the jetlag was kicking in, so we ate at this “pan Asian” restaurant in our hotel.

The place is smart and the prices are typical of those in a smart hotel. The menu was really varied: Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc. A very good collection of classic dishes.

I chose a Thai Kaho Soi chicken noodle soup. Nicely presented and very tasty. Not a huge portion which I was happy with. Nicely spiced but not overly hot – good for me. , in a smart restaurant. The only thing that let the place down was the very slow service – we had to constantly chase to get things.

I was craving to have Khao suey and checked rating of Pan ASEAN restaurant in CP. OKO at Lalit had good rating so decided to go there but to my surprise the food was not as good as expected. We ordered Khao suey and Meal Bowl (Vegetable Rice). Preparation was below average which you can find at any local restaurant. I am gluten intolerant hence requested service staff to add rice Noodles in place of normal noodles. They point blankly refused . From a 5 Star hotel I would expect staff , to check with chef before saying yes or no. I had to insist them to check with chef as it wasn’t big deal. Finally they agreed to checked with chef and he prepared it with Rice noodles.
On food I would give 3 rating but Ambience is good and specially the view from 26th floor was very good.

The place is certainly nice, and the service is good, but the food for the price is not very good. The noodles were tasteless, and the Thai rice was pretty okay.

We’ve had better food at a normal restaurant for half the price.

Our recent Pan-Asian weekend lunch at OKO, perched on the 28th floor of The Lalit Hotel off Connaught Place in Delhi, was nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant offers an Asian spread curated by MasterChef Suriya, who has traveled all the way from Thailand.
Dishes, including dim sums, sushi, prawn crackers, tom-yum, uniquely flavored baked basa fish, jasmine rice, and a coconut milk-water chestnut dessert, were a perfect blend of hot and sweet flavors. The fried mango sushi was a unique first for us, and the stir-fried vegetables and yellow curry with turmeric had subtle Indian hints. Our table, set against a glass wall, offered a breathtaking view of Delhi, including the Red Fort in the distance. The mist after a wet spell added to the dreamy ambiance, making the dining experience even more memorable. OKO’s setting is ideal for a romantic meal or for showcasing Delhi’s beauty to friends and family. Chef Suriya’s expertise and stunning views make OKO a top-notch dining destination. Hi-five to the Asian bonanza at OKO, The Lalit – a grounded Asian experience near the sky!

We had an exceptional lunch experience at the OKO restaurant located inside The Lalit, Connaught Place on the 28th(top) floor. Imagine stepping into a restaurant on the top floor of a high-rise building, where the moment you’re seated, you’re greeted by a breathtaking view that instantly elevates your dining experience. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer an expansive panorama that stretches as far as the eye can see, creating a stunning backdrop for your meal. The restaurant ambience was serene, with elegant decor that seamlessly blended traditional aesthetics with modern luxury.

The food was of top notch quality. The sushi was impeccably fresh and it tasted as good as it looked. The Thai style salt and pepper dish (Yam Phak Crob) was a perfect blend of crispy and fresh, filled with a medley of vegetables and served with a tangy, slightly sweet sauce. The Som Tam salad was both refreshing and packed with flavors, making it a perfect appetizer. Each of the main course dishes were crafted with care and attention to detail, showcasing high-quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The flavors were bold yet balanced leaving you with a sense of satisfaction and delight. The mocktails were very refreshing and complemented the food experience.

However, what truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. Our server, Gireesh, was attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our needs with grace and efficiency. He expertly guided us through the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly.

In every aspect, from the exquisite food to the outstanding service, this lunch was a testament to the high standards of the restaurant.
