I like this place, and I come often. Today was my first negative experience. The salmon was in pieces and it tasted like sushi mashed potatoes. 9/10 times the sushi comes out good but this time around I feel like I lost my money. Just overall a disappointing experience and $17 lost.

When my son first recommended this restaurant to me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve tried plenty of Asian restaurants before, but most of them fall into the same predictable pattern—good food but nothing that really stands out. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think much of his suggestion at first. But let me just say this: after my very first visit here, I am completely hooked. This restaurant has managed to capture not only my appetite, but also my genuine admiration. It’s not every day that I come across a place where the food, the atmosphere, and the service all align in such a perfect way.
The first thing that impressed me is the experience of having the food cooked right in front of you. It’s one thing to be served a plate of good food; it’s another to watch the artistry, skill, and confidence of chefs who truly know what they’re doing. There’s a sense of theater to it, but it’s not gimmicky at all—it’s authentic. You can see the fresh ingredients sizzling, hear the rhythmic sounds of knives chopping, and smell the aroma of spices filling the air before the plate even hits the table. That experience alone would have been enough to win me over, but what took it to another level was the taste itself.
Every dish I tried tasted like it was prepared with care, not rushed, and definitely not generic. I could tell right away that the recipes had depth and authenticity to them. The flavors are bold, balanced, and layered in a way that tells me the chefs don’t just cook—they craft. Each bite feels intentional, like they thought through exactly how the flavors would unfold. And let me tell you, it is so refreshing to eat food that doesn’t just taste good, but feels genuine. It reminded me of why I enjoy trying new restaurants in the first place—because every now and then, you stumble across a hidden gem that feels like it belongs in its own league.
And then there’s the boba tea. I’ve had my fair share of bubble tea in other spots, but what they serve here is on another level. It’s not overly sweet like some places make it, and the tapioca pearls have the perfect chewy texture—soft but with just the right amount of bounce. It complements the meal in a way I didn’t even expect. I found myself sipping it slowly, savoring each taste, because it just felt like the perfect match for the food.
What also stands out is the atmosphere of the restaurant. It’s welcoming, lively, and vibrant without being overwhelming. There’s an energy to the place, and I think it’s partly because of how engaged the staff is. They treat you like more than just a table number—they treat you like a guest. The chefs are clearly proud of their work, and the servers are attentive without hovering. It’s a rare balance to strike, but they’ve nailed it.
I walked in the door because my son said, “Mom, you have to try this place.” I walked out of the door already planning my next visit. That’s how good it was. I can honestly say this is one of the best Asian restaurants I’ve ever been to, and it deserves every bit of the five stars I’m giving it. For real. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful food, a fun dining experience, and something that will leave you telling your friends about it, this is the place. I came in as a skeptic, but now I’m a loyal fan.

Visited for the first time Okinawa Teriyaki & Sushi Express after seeing an IG review. The prices and the food impressed my Husband and I and I was in a closer location to pick up food there. As you can see in my photo what I ordered, it was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was great because when I arrived it was quiet and didn’t start picking up more orders until after but in general, it was a nice clean spot. Food is affordable and delicious and I highly recommend it.

I would have given this five stars because the food is really great. But this restaurant refused to serve water, and wanted us to buy a bottled water. I’m not sure if that’s even legal. We don’t have any water, she said. Yeah I’m standing in front of two taps and two sinks that have water. Every restaurant in Florida should provide plastic cups for anyone walking by with water. It’s the humane thing to do.

I am a connoisseur of Japanese food, and this is the best Japanese food I’ve encountered yet while living in Fort Lauderdale! I order from this place all the time via Uber eats, their delivery fee is low, their prices are fair, their portions are great, and their flavors are outstanding! I highly recommend this place, and I recommend the salmon teriyaki with added beef (steak) and a fried egg! I also very much like their salmon roll with added avocado….. this place is fantastic!
