This place gave me a complicated feeling. I’ll try my best to give clear and fair review.
1. Food: breads are good but not amazing enough to line up. Their process system needs to improve. One employee pack bread customers choose and hand it to cashier. Cashier then check what bread is in the box and add up so there’s a loss of time.
Also, American kids in the front end—- they don’t look happy that they are there…you are in customer service people— can’t bring your personal feeling to work.
2: Drink: I decided to review separately from food cuz they are so slow——- their Hojicha latte was AWESOME!! That being said—Tectonic plate probably move faster than their drink order.
3. Space was clean but they had their bag of flour where customers wait— that was concern for me.
Over all I would prefer Japanese owned business for my food item because of their integrity. However, I’m ok with

I’ve visited both the Anaheim location and this one, and while both have pros and cons, the cons significantly outweigh the pros here. While their signature breads are still delicious, the much smaller store size frequently leads to them being sold out. As a result, you have far fewer selection options compared to the Anaheim store.

Amazing food and really sweet staff BUT horrible management in terms of resource management. They have 13-15 people working in the back but only 1 person serving the customers for their food selections. Most customers get a box of 6 or more items and that on average can take over 3-5 minutes. Compound that with more people coming in and now we have a line going out the building. It’s a simple fix, add 2 more people up front and the problem is solved. Every single time here waiting 15-20 minutes in line to get a bread and butter roll. Ridiculous. It’s a simple fix but the management refuses to address it. It’s frustrating as the issue is so apparent but my guess is they like the hype with the line out the building.

Yes it does live up to the hype. Baked fresh on site. You can see the bakers busy at work making these fresh and yummy soft breads. You can’t come without getting warm vanilla custard bear. It’s melts in your mouth. The matcha lattes are yummy. They also have hot chocolate as a non caffeinated option. Come on a weekday before 11am or after 2pm to avoid the crowd. There’s no indoor seating but several tables outside. It’s not really an outdoor café, and it’s more of a grab and go which is why I gave the atmosphere 4 stars bit everything else is 5 stars.

Came with my husband on a Sunday morning around 9AM. No wait or only 1-2 people in front of us. Service was very good! We loved their baked goods and so much better than Bags of Cakes in Irvine! My favorite was the simple roll/bun with salt on the surface (I forgot what it is called). Also, get their Matcha latte! It was awesome, and I would say one of the best I have tried in OC! We will for sure come back again, and hopefully the line won’t be long when we go next time.

Everything about this place is amazing. The Sunrise bread is crunchy on top, super pillowy soft in the middle.
The Cookie Bread is so die for. I easily can eat 3 of these.
The Salt and Butter is crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside.
There is always a line but the service is fast and super sweet.
I easily drop some $$$ here but it’s because I buy it for everyone I know.

I have loved all the pastries and breads I have tried. There is a line sometimes. And sometimes they are sold out of things. BUT, that is the same with any great bakery. Ever been to 85 degree? Same thing. It is part of the experience. Don’t have your usual go to? Try something new! I have every time and have had nothing but wonderful experiences.

They don’t have any courtesy or customer service. Yes, it’s really good but way overpriced. Waiting line is long, still the staff doesn’t seem to care about that. Only 1 person is accepting the order, other few staff are just standing chatting each other. I heard they had a long business training but apparently that doesn’t include the customer service or efficiency. No greetings at all.
Also, the girl accepting the order is wearing gloves but touching her hair and safe. So, what are those gloves for???
Sad but it’s really hard to come back to grab some patties really quick.

So yummy! So excited it is along a normal path of travel for me. I just did not make it to their other locations.

I was going to the Okayama in Anaheim as usual, but I heard a new one opened about 30 minutes away, so I decided to try it. I ended up waiting in a long line, and they were out of bread, so I couldn’t even buy anything. I should’ve just gone to the Anaheim location—at least there, they keep bringing out freshly baked bread even if you have to wait. Anyway, I’m never coming to this location again.
