This was my first time at Okan. I went on Valentine’s Day with a group of my friends. We ordered from their Valentine’s Day menu, which consisted of a 5 course meal. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I highly enjoyed their wonton crisp! The decor was beautiful and my friends and I were the first to sit in their cozy nook area. The art surrounding us was beautiful. The service was unfortunately quite slow, but I’m certain that happened because it was a holiday.

This was genuinely one of the best meals that I have ever had. After eating here, it’s hard to think about spending money at other restaurants when we have this gem so close by. I would like to work my way through every item on the menu, because I have yet to have something that did not expand my mind.
That is the type of experience this is—you will taste things you have never imagined before.
It started for our group with the suya skewers—tender skewers of beef cheek with mango that were juicy, tangy, and delicious.
From there we all decided to share our entrées, for which we had the curry goat, lamb ribs, oxtail, and hanger steak.
Every component of each dish had a story to tell. I found myself voraciously chowing down on the greens that came with my oxtail, along with the mushrooms and rice, which somehow rivaled the meat itself for flavor.
The outstanding dish was the curry goat, which was a warm embrace of coconut, peas, and tender meat. We enjoyed it all so much that we forgot to take pictures!
For desert, we all split the chocolate coffee cake, basque cheesecake, and pineapple tart.
My personal favorite was the cheesecake, which did not taste like anything I have had before. I struggle to describe it, but my mind’s eye sees caramel, apple, guava, and cream.
My brother said it best—every dish on the menu would be the award-winning special at another restaurant.
Okan should be at the top of your list for Bluffton restaurants, whether you are a tourist or a local.

My wife and I had 5:00 PM reservations for Valentine’s Day and were excited to try Okan in Bluffton. When we arrived, there were only about five guests in the restaurant, two of whom already had food, so we expected a smooth experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but.
We chose the Valentine’s four-course meal. We were supposed to receive two appetizers but only got one. After mentioning it to our server, it took another 45 minutes for the second appetizer to arrive. My wife is pregnant, so long waits without food are especially difficult.
The second course didn’t come out until 6:45 PM — over an hour and fifteen minutes after we sat down. The fish served was raw, which normally wouldn’t be an issue, but it was not disclosed on the menu, and because my wife is pregnant she couldn’t eat it. We again asked the staff if they could bring anything she could safely eat since she hadn’t had food in hours, but nothing ever came.
By 7:30 PM our entrées finally arrived, and at that point we decided not to stay for dessert.
Overall, the service and management were extremely disappointing. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

Don’t sleep on this place, Bluffton. We came in to town to visit some family, and decided to try this place. The food was excellent for flavors and presentation. The Coco (sp?) Bread was dangerously good. We could’ve filled up on that alone. Lobster curry was mild but awesome. The flank steak was cooked perfect. I would come here regularly, if I lived in town.

Bernard and team have truly brought something special to Bluffton and the low country. Tantalizing my taste buds from the Sauvignon blanc, oyster appetizer, and all the way to the pork shank that rocked my world. Don’t be like me and take so long to try this place. You won’t regret it.

Beautiful restaurant with outdoor dining option that is dog friendly. Waiter couldn’t have been more polite. Manager was very hospitable and even brought bug spray for me.
Now to the star of the evening–the food!
The oxtail is incredible..the okra was grilled perfect and underneath had the most delicious red sauce. The lamb ribs were also very good

Soooo glad we made the drive out from Hilton Head Island to try Okan! Hands down the best meal of our trip and one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time. Everything was uniquely delicious but the goat curry and jollof rice were our favorites! The hint of the scotch bonnet pepper in the goat curry was perfection.
After dinner we walked up to their ice cream window and enjoyed some home made ice cream. Our daughter who always gets strawberry LOVED the butter pecan and so did we!
Can’t wait to come back in the future. ❤️

I visited Okan two evenings in a row in February of 2026, and I have to say: It’s absolutely fantastic. I saw the place being built in 2021 but I subsequently moved out of state and never had a chance to visit. This week was the first time I was back in the area with enough spare time to try different dinner options, and I ended up going to Okan twice in two nights if that tells you anything. The bread is out-of-this-world good, and the people are extraordinarily friendly. Downtown Bluffton now has multiple great options for dining, including two high-end restaurants, and I tried those as well. Frankly, Okan is just as good as the two high-end places, and maybe even a little better. If you’re in the area, it’s a must-visit. And if you live there and haven’t gone to Okan yet, you should go.

The most laudable dining experience! From my online reservation being processed without complications. The same reservation was honored at the time slot specified without wait or cause. The atmosphere and ambiance were warm, cozy, and inviting. Dimly lit lighting ushered us into the romance not expected for the evening. Not to be outdone, the staff was exceptional in the demeanor, professionalism, and hospitality. We were the last reservation of the evening, however, were not rushed and received impeccable service. Our server, Rodrick, provided us with the most details and thorough explanation of the menu that we simply allowed him to order for us! His recommendations on pairing our entrees and side dishes were exquisite. The meals were prepared absolutely flawlessly. Taste, texture, and plating aroused our taste buds, which, by the way, were not disappointed. The food was amazing….simply amazing!! Our evening was highlighted and honored by Executive Chef Bernard stopping by our table. We shared our gratitude for an evening of elegance and succulent dining.
While Chef shared his passion for creating such unique (albeit common by name) dishes. Let just say that I have found a new place to not only dine but host business partners, future clients, and friends. I am encouraging everyone to make a reservation or just stop by Okan Bluffton for a dining experience of exceptional class. Chances are, I will be there when you visit!

I’m not even joking: this is literally some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life, and that’s not something I say quickly. The oxtail and rice were cooked to perfection (falling off the bone). My wife and I will be returning soon.
