OK Cafe

  4.5 – 4 reviews  $$ • American restaurant

The OK Cafe opened its doors July 8, 1987 and so great was the longing for a true southern restaurant that by the end of the first week it had become an Atlanta phenomenon with crowds standing in line to get in. Today it serves more customers than any other full service restaurant in Georgia. People come to the OK Cafe for the quality of the food and the sort of menu your grandmother would make for Sunday dinner, if you had a grandma who could cook that is. Mix in an uncle who was a short order cook at the best grill in town, and you’ve got the family recipes that make the OK Cafe so popular.

Old-fashioned diner with a Southern slant, complete with milkshakes, meatloaf & a jukebox.

Loved this place. Foods were awesome and great service. Great casual place to have good time with friends and family with good food. We had the chicken pot pie and Rotisserie chicken with with lemon pepper-tamari for brunch. The corn muffin came in the sides were good too. Both dishes were really good! Would recommend this cafe to everyone.

As travelers, it was nice to find a local spot away from the busy downtown area. We waited 20 minutes during lunch, and it was worth it. It is classic American food with the charm and the nostalgia of the late XX century cafe/diner. The menu offers a wide range of classic American comfort foods that are absolutely delicious and seasoned just right; we highly recommend the fried cheese grits (perfect in flavor and crunch) and the tomato basil soup that was served that day. It was evident that their commitment to quality ingredients and attention to detail set them apart from your average cafe. The overall experience was enhanced by the attentive waitstaff who embraced their roles wholeheartedly, making for an immersive dining experience truly reminiscent of retro diners’ past. Thank you, OK! Cafe

I love this place!! I always try to come at off hours so I don’t have to wait! I pretty much order the same thing every time – the turkey avocado bacon sandwich with sprouts. This time, I didn’t have the bread. 10/10 for taste. Love how the fries are crispy on the outside yet soft in the middle.

My husband and I have been going to OK cafe for about 7 years and we have never had a bad experience. The southern comfort menu never disappoints. I am a big fan of the roasted turkey dinner but I also enjoy the crispy fried chicken, pot roast, and chicken pot pie. My husband and I always split the pimento cheese or fried pickle as well, both of which always hit the spot. And of course you have to finish your meal with a creamy milkshake or a fresh cobbler. My only complaint is the lack of a changing table. I was very disappointed when I had to go outside to my car and change my baby in the heat on our most recent trip to OK Cafe.

We are new to the area. It’s been a long while (decades) since I’ve been in a restaurant where everything seemed to matter to them. Service, atmosphere, cleanliness, food quality. It’s an older place, but everything is well-maintained in every aspect. Such a pleasant experience. Gives me hope in the good of America. We will be back!!

Delightful diner! Everything was homemade and delicious. Tons of vegetable options, especially the Mac n cheese!, veggie burgers, salmon, shrimp. Homemade sodas and drinks. Definitely an Atlanta treasure you must visit!!

Great “comfort” food location. Table of eight of enjoyed our separate entrees. Very large restaurants with classic diner feel.

The OK Cafe is always perfection. Besides the food being delicious and the wrapped desserts by the register, the management is obviously doing something right. Many of the employees have been there for over ten years, and our waitress had been there for 17 years. SEVENTEEN. How many companies can say that their employees have been that loyal to them? After finding this out, I’m even more of a fan than I was before.

I’ve driven past this restaurant many times and finally visited for a meal with mentor. It has an old school retro feel from the pen and paper waitlist at the front door to the waitstaff bring clothed in diner style uniforms. Let’s get to the good part… so many options to choose from and everything sounded delicious. I opted to order the country fried steak and it was stellar!!! Needless to say I’ll be coming back for more items in the menu.
