Oishii is a cozy, intimate setting for enjoying Japanese cuisine. Complete with sushi bar, we focus on a traditional, respectful relationship between the food, the service, and the guests.
The word oishii or おいしい, is a Japanese exclamation meaning delicious! and is often heard after a particularly good first bite.
Come by and say OISHII!

Had a great light lunch with the wife at Oishii Japanese Bistro located in the center of downtown Powell, Ohio. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Our food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere here is calming, with a lower noise level that makes for easy conversation. We shared a crab salad, eel & avocado roll and some pan fried dumplings, all of which were excellent. The only down side to our experience was parking, as the public lot is a block away and the sidewalks were still slippery with ice and snow cover. Overall 4.5 Stars and we will be back to try other items soon!

What an amazing experience! I’ve just moved back to the east coast of the US from Europe and I am sort of a sushi and sashimi connoisseur. I’ve eaten sushi in 23 countries and additionally in 48 states here in the US. This restaurant is at the top of their game. I’ve read a lot of their reviews, and it’s difficult to reconcile the low reviews with my experience, eating here once per day for the two weeks I was visiting Columbus Ohio. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the Toro roll is such a divine delight. I will carry this experience as one of my favorites.

Came in and tried the Oishii Roll, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was on point, and the flavors were balanced with just the right amount of spice and texture. I also ordered the tuna and yellowtail sashimi, and both were incredibly fresh with a smooth, clean taste. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in how everything is prepared, from the ingredients to the plating and overall consistency.
The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. If you’re into sushi, this place is absolutely worth a stop. I’ll definitely be back to try more rolls, but the Oishii Roll is already a favorite.

This is now my favorite sushi restaurant in the Columbus area. Absolutely a great experience – the staff were helpful and kind, the food was excellent, the drinks were great, and all for quite reasonable prices. We ordered ‘The Titanic’, their large sushi & sashimi boat, with soup included, and it was perfect for a birthday celebration, with far more food than two people could eat.

So glad that we discovered Oishii! The food was extremely fresh, beautiful, and delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes and good value. Walked away feeling like our money was well spent on a quality experience. Loved the warm atmosphere and friendly service. This will be a go-to place for us from now on!

We love Oishii sushi! This is our go to sushi place. It’s so good and fresh. However, every time we go to dine in, it’s always very smokey inside even after the expansion. Not sure what is going on with that – they need new ventilation solutions. In addition, we love a few of the short dark haired ladies who are servers – so sweet and welcoming! However, the taller lady is very cold and unwelcoming. We sat at the “bar” and she passive aggressively told us to get up with no clear reason why. We thought the bar was free seating. This is the second time we have come in and she has been rude. Such a shame considering how much we love this place. We will continue to order takeout but will hold out for eating in considering the environment.

Food and service are top notch. We love the sushi!!! However, every time we go there is soo much grease in the air it looks hazy. Your clothes, hair, coat, purse all smell like it for weeks. Get some ventilation solutions!

We went for Sunday dinner.
Apparently they only have a beer liquor license for Sunday.
HUGE Turn off
My wife & I enjoy hot sake with our sushi. The prominent drink menu on the sushi bar didn’t help
We enjoy sitting at the sushi bar to watch the action.
This was the SADDEST sushi bar I’ve seen yet. There was practically no fish displayed and what we saw wasn’t appealing or presented well.
It wasn’t busy but still took awhile together our food.
The wasabi portion given was ridiculously tiny, we had to ask for more.
My tamago egg tasted like cold wet sponge uggh. The inari was tasty but understuffed with rice.
The edamame was tasty & fried gyoza was good.
Overall pretty basic, nothing special about this place. Our first time there. We probably won’t be back. They’re are far better options nearby.

Fun little sushi joint in downtown Powell! Delicious, attractive, tight sushi rolls and great crab Rangoon plus attentive manager, super personable server Leom and his friendly trainee. You made our dining experience great. Next time we will try the saki flight
