Three stars feels fair.
The food was okay, but the name Oishi means “delicious” in Japanese, and that sets a high bar. Unfortunately, the ramen missed a fundamental detail: the egg was not marinated. For ramen, this is not a minor flaw. A proper ajitama is essential, and serving an un-marinated egg is deeply disappointing. As a person who has visited many Japanese ramen restaurants (in Japan), this felt especially unforgivable. Furthermore, it is disrespectful to their culture.
The service, to be fair, was very good: friendly and attentive.
With more respect for the basics, especially the ramen egg, this place could live up to its name. Until then, three stars is honest.
As a side note: if the service wasn’t as good as it was, this would be a solid 2 stars

Brand new place, and they are really good. It was slow at first, but I know they’re finding a rhythm. Regardless, we enjoyed the food. Tonight, we ordered gyoza, pork belly, tuna may nagiri, karaage, and shoyu ramen. The only thing I didn’t like was the pork belly had propane smell to it, and that’s something I would change. Other than that, we enjoyed our food. Everything had good flavor 🙂
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. We plan to come back and try more food. Keep up the awesome job guys!
At the end of the day, they just opened up barely a week ago. I noticed some rude reviews and honestly if you are going to be that negative and talk down about a business that just opened up and are still working on things…just don’t ever return. Lol they don’t need your business.

Eaten her multiple times and each time the food is always amazing. We love getting the different types of onigiri and curry. They also do yakitori but it is ONLY served during dinner hours. Only downside is there is no bathroom in the restaurant, but they have a key to the subway one next door.

New restaurant in East Bremerton. Delicious Japanese-style yakitori, ramen, karaage, etc. We ordered the shoyu ramen, which is pictured. It was FLAVORFUL, and the ramen noodles were cooked amazingly. The egg used was also marinated if ykyk. The chashu pork was delicious also. We also got the pork belly yakitori which was tasty and moist and accidentally received a chicken yakitori by mistake that did not disappoint. The tuna mayo nigiri was yummy!!!! It’s a basic dish, but flavorful when done right, and boy was it. We cannot wait to come back to try other entrées and yakitori. The karaage was also moist, crispy, and flavorful. The menu is diverse and affordable. The restaurant is on the smaller side so when it’s busy, like it is currently, there is a wait. We only waited about 15-20min though. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It’s a new restaurant ironing out its service kinks, if you’re not understanding of that maybe wait a few more weeks to visit. This is a great addition to the area!

After hearing a recommendation from a friend, Hubby and I decided to try Oishi Japanese restaurant.
Walking into Oishi, we were warmly greeted and allowed to choose our own seating. The simple yet tasteful Japanese-inspired decor on the walls added to the restaurant’s fresh and clean ambiance.
Our server promptly arrived with menus and water, allowing us a few moments to review the menu.
Oishis has some yummy-sounding dishes on its menu, so it wasn’t easy in choosing what we wanted.
I decided on the Vegetable Yakisoba noodles, and Hubby chose Katsudon.
My Yakisoba noodles were good but not extraordinary. I have had them many times in the past at other restaurants. But the quantity wasn’t there, and Oishis Yakisoba noodles were too sweet for my liking. And I couldn’t tell you if they included seaweed within the dish; maybe it was the leftover taste in my mouth from the Miso soup, but I kept tasting seaweed.
And about that Miso soup, my cup of soup had large pieces of seaweed, no tofu or green onions, just seaweed and broth. I tasted nothing other than seaweed.
I wish the Oishis had offered a variety of protein to choose from, not just vegetarian, not that I mind, but I would have loved chicken.
My Hubby said his Katsudon was okay, but it was pretty bland in taste. He put soy sauce on it, hoping to enhance the flavors.
So, although the dining experience wasn’t bad, and the Oishi seems to get a lot of business, the server was friendly enough, and the establishment was clean; I cant give you an opinion on the restrooms because we did not visit them, I don’t see us returning anytime soon.
As I have said in a few other reviews, sometimes a person needs to try something new. Everyone’s taste is different, so I can only give you a personal opinion.

I arrived at 5:30 PM and was immediately impressed with the excellent service and delicious food. The restaurant had a unique menu featuring Japanese street food, which was such a treat! The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the pork was absolutely amazing—so flavorful and tender.
I noticed the restroom was conveniently located in the back of the restaurant, which was helpful.
I’ve heard the owners are always looking for ways to improve the menu, and while the ramen is outstanding, it might be worth considering a chicken option as well. That being said, I truly appreciate the authenticity of sticking to pork, just as it’s traditionally served in Japan.
Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend checking this place out!

Ignore the haters posting negative comments. This is the most authentic Japanese street food I’ve had since having it in Japan (and I lived in Japan for a long time).
They were just featured in the local paper, so the hype is causing long lines and a bit of a crazy wait situation, but it’s worth it.
Had the takoyaki, gyoza, yakitori chicken set, yakisoba, and katsudon (missed getting pics of the takoyaki and yakitori – they looked so good, I forgot to get a picture lol). All were really good, but the takoyaki and katsudon really stood out as amazing – 10/10 for both! They also make chu-hi drinks, which is impossible to find anywhere else and they are SO good!
If I had to give a critique, it would be that the yakitori needs a bit more sauce before serving to get that authentic street side / bazaar cart flavor. And the gyoza were pretty average – I’d skip over those for pretty much any other appetizer next time.
Can’t recommend enough and I’ll definitely be back many more times to work though the whole menu!

They are pretty busy, and the food takes some time to come out because it’s busy so be patient it’s worth it! Yakitori selection is pretty standard, we ordered chicken, pork belly, unagi, and shishito peppers. We also ordered the mentaiko udon and the aji fry (breaded and deep fried mackerel which I forgot to take a pic of). Everything was delicious, their shichimi blend(seasoned spicy salt) was good on everything. Stand-out yakitori was the pork belly(all were good), and the mentaiko udon was smokey and briney (imagine seafood flavored alfredo with a pinch of nori, green onion, and smoke infused fish eggs). It was all scrumptious and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend!!

The food here was delicious. As others have said, there are issues in the kitchen that they will hopefully work out.
I had the katsu don, and ordered a side of chicken yakitori with it. I finished the katsu and waited an additional 20-30 mins before the yakitori was brought out.
We’ll certainly give this place another try.
