Stopped in for dinner while in town for work. Sat at the bar upstairs. The bartenders are extremely pleasant and chatty. I ordered the burrata salad and the bolognese. Both were excellent. Unfortunately I didn’t have any ability to eat dessert though the dessert menu looked great.
On a Wednesday night the restaurant was pretty empty, and oddly a couple and another single person crammed in at the bar with me instead of selecting one of the many available tables.

Early evening Sunday Family style dinner menu was amazing! The pot roast was my favorite. Definitely worth the trip.

If you’re visiting DC and someone suggests Oficina for its “Italian food with a view of the Potomac,” go in with the right expectations. While technically located on the Wharf, it’s more at the far end — so the water views are limited. That said, the atmosphere is stylish and comfortable, with an upscale steakhouse vibe that can suit any mood, from date night to business dinner.
The food was much better than it looked on the plate — flavorful, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. I only wished the menu offered a bit more variety. The service was excellent; our server was attentive without hovering, and although the restaurant was busy, it felt like we had the place to ourselves thanks to the spacious layout.
One small hiccup: we didn’t realize bread was served until we saw another table get it — not a dealbreaker, but definitely something that should be consistent. Drinks were decent, prices were standard for the area, and there’s an elevator for accessibility.
Pro tip: Parking can be a challenge, so plan ahead or rideshare, and definitely make a reservation. Overall, a solid dining experience — tasty food, great service, and a relaxed yet elegant setting.

If you are visiting DC and you are asked to select a location with a view of the Potomac and you hear the word “Italian food” and immediately think of healthy portions and a view of the Wharf. Remember this location is a book end on the Wharf (water views are limited). The food is tastier than it appears on the plate and the drinks are okay. Prices and service is standard. The atmosphere can accommodate any comfort level. The theme is an upscale steakhouse. Parking could be a beast. I would suggest prior reservations. There is an elevator.

Visited during the end of cherry blossom season. It was absolutely beautiful. It was not warm enough for the upper floor to be fully opened, but all the firepots were lit, and you could easily move inside and out. The food was very good and elevated the experience. It’s rare that you get a perfect mixture of ambiance, great service, and excellent food. I will definitely be back.

This was really good food. Our service was excellent. We seemed to have the place all to ourselves. There were a lot of people there, but the place was huge. You shouldn’t be disappointed with the food. I would have liked to have seen a bit more on the menu. But it was good. But they need to make sure that bread gets to everyone. We didn’t know they had bread until another table got it. That happens, but it isn’t cool.

I’ll have to maybe give this restaurant another chance. They have so much going on here. The food was pretty good I wasn’t blown away by it or anything. The location, views and overall ambiance of the restaurant is great. I am speaking from my experience at the lunch restaurant. They have a whole separate dining experience on the second and Terrance.
UPDATE: sit on the roof!!! So I went back here for a second time and the rooftop is just amazing, great vibes great views. They have a bar up there the whole experience was completely different. I had a great time!

The restaurant was a very nice setting, but beyond that we weren’t thrilled. The portions were very small, and almost everything left a taste of fennel in your mouth (probably because the bread served at the table had fennel in it and it’s a tough taste to get rid of beyond that). My dad finished his dish in 2 seconds (ravioli stuffed with braised lamb), and I would definitely say don’t come here if you have an appetite.
Our service was okay. A few of the waiters that came by randomly were great, but we only saw our “main” waiter a couple times — and the manager actually ended up taking our order for us. Not a huge deal, but keep in mind the bill tact’s on an automatic 23% gratuity to your bill …. Which was a $52 tip in our case (a little much if you ask me), 23% is for exceptional service and our service was less than good.
Also, to reserve a table you have to put down $15 per person when making a reservation. So this was $60 for us. Again, not a huge deal but this restaurant isn’t worth that — I’d rather find one that doesn’t charge a fee to reserve a table….
Overall, it was fine …. But we won’t be back.

Overall decent experience, however, could have been better. We were placed in the sun for some reason when there were plenty of empty spots. Service could be slightly better. If not food prices and quality were reasonable and we were there when all pasta dishes were 50% so that was nice. Recommended for a reasonable meal but nothing special.

Amatriciana was bland, very little pancetta, WAY too much red onion, and the bucatini was overcooked. Cacio e Pepe is very hard to get right so no one should serve this unless it’s your specialty and not just another sauce on the menu. The pasta with cinghiale was tasty. The mascarpone in the tiramisu was salty and the “ladyfingers” did not seem to have been soaked in espresso. The space is beautiful, though. I liked the Nebbiolo wine. I’ve been there for happy hour aperol spritz and that was fun.
