Off The Rails Mexican Cantina is a gem tucked into downtown Buford, offering an inviting blend of Old West charm and warm hospitality. The interior sets the mood immediately with its rustic Western theme, highlighted by beautiful stained glass windows that cast colorful light across the cozy space.
The menu is diverse and thoughtfully priced, featuring all the Mexican favorites you’d expect, and then some. Every dish is made from scratch, right down to the ice cream that comes with the rich, decadent chocolate flan. The portions are generous without being over the top, though we still found ourselves trying to keep up!
The beef soup is especially noteworthy, deeply flavorful with melt-in-your-mouth tender beef. The fajita steak burrito is another standout, packed with juicy, well-seasoned steak. Even the rice and beans, often an afterthought at many places, are clearly crafted with care. And the salsa? It’s dangerously good. We nearly filled up on it before the entrees arrived!
What truly sets Off The Rails apart, though, is the service. Our server, Amy, is an absolute star. She brings so much personality to the table, being genuinely kind, incredibly patient, and radiating positivity with her big, authentic smile. Be sure to ask for her when you go; she made our experience even better.
We’ll definitely be back. Off The Rails is a must-visit if you’re in the area, so come hungry, leave happy.

I really want to like this place. 2nd try. Had to ask for napkins and silverware after appetizers arrived. Refill of drinks-had to ask. Asked for lemon- had to ask a second time. Chips hard, guacamole very oniony.
Meals were fantastic. Yet, again drinks are empty.
Open area, very loud, but ok.

This was our family’s first time visiting. The food, service, & ambiance were all amazing! Loved all of the wood, brick, sculptures, and stained glass in the restaurant. Our server, Ryan (first name Christopher) was one of the best we’ve ever had!! We will definitely be back, and will ask for him!

Came here with my sister and mom, got the Sopa De Pollo, and let me tell you. The service, food, AND atmosphere are all amazing. Sweetest people ever, best food I think I’ve had, and the atmosphere just gives off awesome vibes!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone that likes Mexican food.

We came in looking forward to enjoying a nice evening and a good meal, but unfortunately our experience fell short of expectations. Several items in our order were incorrect. My husband chose not to mention that his meal wasn’t prepared as ordered, but my build-your-own nachos were missing multiple ingredients that are supposed to be included. When I asked about it, our server was shocked like and then acted like I was wrong to even ask to have those items.
Additionally, when we received the check, we noticed we were being charged for meat that we never received. It was disappointing to see inaccuracies both with the food and the bill.
We understand that mistakes can happen, but we would have appreciated better communication and a quicker effort to make things right. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.

We loved the chips, salsa, and queso.
We ordered the steak tacos and street tacos. The steak was dry and really that much flavor, it probably was precooked waiting to put in the tacos. This service, the atmosphere was great. If we decided to go back we have to get something else.

Food – Best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time! Real tortilla chips, fresh salsa, queso was awesome, and everything was fresh.
Service – It took a while to get water on my table. It just was a little lacking.
Atmosphere – The design of the interior is wow, and lighting is just done so well. I would tell you to just come and look at the interior layout because it’s just of the rails cool! It’s just artistically we’ll done! The blue reflective light to the back of the bar stools is awesome. Love the interior design!

Met a friend for lunch since this was a half-way spot for us. The service was ok even though they were not super busy. We visited on a Wednesday around noon.
The queso was yummy, the salsa was decent and the chips were warm and perfectly salted. We both ordered the quesadilla. I ordered the steak quesadilla and my friend ordered the chicken. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The same for the chicken. They did not skimp because our quesadillas were loaded with meat and veggies and cheese. So good! The music was a bit loud, but we were able to carry a conversation. I definitely would be returning to try other items on the menu. Super good food for sure.

Good food and a super fun atmosphere in a cute little town. My only complaint is that our seats next to the window were hot and the service was slow (though pleasant).
