I had a wonderful dinner with family at Off The Hook. Frankee, our waitress, was super sweet and attentive. She made sure my meal was vegan and helped me find a salad and app I could enjoy, too. Rob the manager came to check on us a couple times and is just the nicest and most professional person!
We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and we felt spoiled with the vegan stir fry (wow!). The lavender mocktail is one of the best mocktails I’ve ever had.
Thank you for a memorable evening.

We had a perfect night at Off the Hook! My husband specifically asked for this restaurant for his 50th birthday dinner. Bill gave us excellent service, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the entire menu, cocktails, and wine selection. We loved our martinis (I got a seasonal one, my husband got a dirty one with blue cheese stuffed olives), our food was also prepared perfectly. He got the swordfish Parmesan style, I got the 8 oz filet mignon Oscar style with crab and asparagus, then we got the carrot cake for dessert. Flawless. I highly recommend this high end restaurant for any occasion.

Absolutely phenomenal! This wasn’t our first time here but we haven’t been in a while. It’s amazing as always. Wonderful service in a timely manner. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand!
We got all of the east coast oysters x2 and really enjoyed them. The coconut jasmine rice is always a must and we paired that with the blackened cauliflower, Vera Cruz swordfish, and the orange basil halibut. For dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake latte is a must and we also got the crème brûlée too.
The perfect spot for a special occasion and a gem to have in the area!

I am beyond disappointed with my experience here. The food quality and the high prices simply do not match. We paid $40 for an appetizer that was definitely not worth it. My main course was incredibly salty—so much so that it was almost impossible to eat—and it lacked any real creativity. Even my husband, who never complains about food, found it unreasonable. (food is not that great but the oyster was ok) the service felt robotic. The server overwhelmed us with scripted recommendations and specials until I completely lost track of the information. The overall experience was far from impressive. (been there July 2025)

Went for lunch. There were good and bad points. A limited lunch menu was made more limited by a lack of some menu items being available. One of two oyster shooters came sans oyster. We did not mention it to the server. Some listed wines were not available. My coffee came to the table cold. An Irish coffee came deconstructed (DIY?) and cold. My attempt to get a paper airplane cocktail at the bar was a fail due to a lack of Amaro. Portions were small. We had a table of 8, with some admittably fussy diners amongst us. The manager/sommelier Bryce was charming and knowledgeable. Our server Liz did a good job as well, and did so with pleasant demeanor. My wife had the swordfish (Caribbean style) and loved it, as did I. My chicken caprese was ok, nothing special. I considered the fish sandwich but was disappointed to learn it was cod. I also considered the sea bass but it was unavailable. The black grouper was very good, as was the shrimp cocktail. I did not get to taste the miso salmon, but it was a big hit with two people at our table. My.daughter had and loved the big eye tuna sashimi style. Vegetable side plate was a tiny, rather silly imho, flat affair of carrots, snow peas, and something else. Coconut rice side was good. I enjoyed ending my meal with the cheese plate consisting of 4 interesting cheeses, honey, fig jam, guava, and bread. All in all, dining here was an ok experience. We might return to give the place another try, dinner menu preferred. Would love to try the oysters. I have a feeling that they would not disappoint.

While you might not think Pittsburgh was a great destination for seafood you would be wrong. This is a wonderful seafood restaurant suitable for any celebration. From oysters, appetizers and mains to desserts everything is wonderful. The wine list has plenty to offer as well. Our server, Bethany was very patient and helpful.
Give it a try !

Off the Hook doesn’t just set the bar, they are the bar. From kitchen to table, the standard of excellence is unmistakable. The wait staff exemplifies professionalism: knowledgeable, polished, and genuinely attentive. They deliver a seamless dining experience, effortlessly reciting each special and remembering every order without taking notes—an impressive detail that speaks volumes about their training and dedication. The chef and kitchen staff are also on point. I have never experienced anything lacking in preparation. It’s this level of service, paired with the restaurant’s culinary precision, that makes Off the Hook a benchmark for fine dining in the area.
The evening began with a special appetizer featuring a beautifully composed plate of seafood: a perfectly cooked crab cake, two jumbo shrimp, and two ichiban skewers showcasing swordfish, salmon, and tuna. Each component was prepared with precision. The fish was cooked to ideal temperature, tender, flaky, and deeply flavorful. The crab cake was exactly what a crab cake should be: minimal filler, generous lump crab meat, and a crisp, golden exterior.
For the entrée, the grouper with chorizo and cream sauce was another standout. The fish was cooked flawlessly, maintaining its delicate texture. While the sauce leaned more toward a light reduction than a true cream sauce, it still offered rich, smoky depth from the chorizo and complemented the grouper beautifully.
The clam chowder impressed as well, offering a classic, hearty flavor profile done with care and balance.
Dessert, however, was where the evening truly shined. The white chocolate macadamia nut mousse with Chambord chocolate ganache was the undeniable star—luxurious, smooth, and indulgent without being heavy. Each bite struck a perfect harmony between sweetness and texture. To accompany it, the pumpkin cheesecake latte was a seasonal delight. It was rich, aromatic, and beautifully presented. While quite decadent, it served as a fitting finale to a memorable meal.

Phenomenal food and service. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Its our favorite spot in the Pittsburgh area when we are visiting family. Fresh fish flown in daily. Fish preparations are incredible my favorite is Caribbean. Crab cakes are as good as they were 20 years ago when they were at the top of mount washington. Desserts are outstanding.

By far one of my favorite seafood places!
My family and I originally came here for my birthday one year and it just was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. The service was knowledgable, kind, and diligent. They go above and beyond expectations in their own jobs.
As for the food, it is always prepared fresh and cooked perfectly. Portions are perfectly suited for one person. The oysters are one of my favorite since they are cleaned real well and they have a modest selection. Definitely the perfect place for any seafood lover.
