As I settled into my seat at the bar, the attentive barlady greeted me with a genuine smile that hinted at her commitment to creating a memorable dining experience. The menu, a thoughtful blend of traditional and contemporary flavors, promised an adventure for the palate.
My ribeye that arrived at my seat was a masterpiece, thoughtfully plated and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh, locally sourced, and each bite told a story of culinary expertise and love. It was evident that the chefs poured their hearts into every aspect, elevating the dining experience far beyond the ordinary.
I couldn’t help but feel grateful for discovering such a hidden treasure in this small town. All I’ve heard were good things, so my expectations were high to begin with before coming here. We reserved a table the day of for an early time since most of it was already booked out, and for good reason. First impressions were wonderful from the lovely atmosphere, the kind smiles, and delicious smells. Obviously, said delicious smells were accompanied with delectable delights. We enjoyed a small charcuterie board for our appetizer, I enjoyed sips of my husband’s cocktails he choose, but my wine was perfectly paired with my entree according to my tastes. I always appreciate the option to taste my wines beforehand and choose, as well as the chance for a few more sips of wine of course! The most delightful experience was our server Ashley, a true professional, because the best server can both enjoy conversation with you and allow you to enjoy your own private time without you even noticing the distinction between the two. I loved getting the chance to write your own little note in their old books, ours is in the old Whitefish book on page 33, which I plan to revisit with another note later when we definitely come back. Thank you for this experience, we absolutely loved it, and others will too no doubt.

The Odyssey is, without a doubt, the best restaurant in Hastings. I honestly don’t know what Hastings would be without it—it’s one of the only places I truly enjoy dining in town.
The bar drinks are crafted to perfection—no pre-mixed shortcuts or overly sweet syrups, just expertly made cocktails. The truffle chips with garlic aioli are absolutely to die for, and the crab cakes are delicious. My absolute favorite item on the menu is their grilled Caesar salad. I’ve traveled and dined at countless restaurants, and I can confidently say this is one of the best salads I’ve ever had.
The ribeye steak is outstanding, and the shaved brussel sprouts and cheesy grits are some of the best I’ve tasted. Beyond the incredible food, the staff is warm, welcoming, and always a pleasure to chat with. The cozy, charming atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a date night or a family dinner. A unique touch that adds to the experience is how they present the check—tucked inside an old library book, which perfectly complements the restaurant’s inviting ambiance.
We’ve been in Hastings for about six months on a year contract, and we’ve searched high and low for great food. Most of the time, we have to drive to another town, but The Odyssey is the one restaurant we return to weekly. It’s truly one of my favorite restaurants I have found in my traveling journeys and I will miss it when we leave.

I ordered shrimp pasta and portion was good. Taste was delicious however very few shrimps were there in the food.. I feel it is expensive for the portion they serve. Atmosphere was great and it seems this is only high end restaurant in Hastings.
Waiter messed up with our order and I have to wait little bit longer to get the correct ordered food.

Amazing local restaurant in downtown Hastings, NE. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. Wonderful drinks, service, and delicious food. I attached copies of the current menu. Drink menu included some seasonal features & go-tos, along with a nice wine offering. Desserts offered were amazing; we had blueberry lemon cheesecake. We will definitely return!

Stopped in for lunch, and had a great experience. Hailey, our server was awesome. Udon bowl with steak along with an old fashioned was excellent. According to my wife, the grilled Cesar Salad was the best she’s had and she loved the French Martini.
